It's just classic TD to bring politics (blame liberals) into something that has nothing to do with it.

Does that mean all the people who defended Jeremy Hill are liberals?

The real shitty part of all this is that it also opens up the victim to publicity and brings up the entire situation back to her. The cousin is likely 13-14 now and that is one hell of an age to have shite like this thrown at you. I know her name isn't on record but it wouldn't be hard for people close to that family to know who it is.

Then you just think about the situation, like if you're the mother/father of that girl and someone in the family does something that heinous? I can't imagine the kind of trauma that entire situation caused for that entire family and that poor girl.

Agreed. Things have gotten so polarized that people can't help but to spin non-political issues into political ones.

All while simultaneously complaining about having sports networks shove politics down their throats at every turn.

It's very perplexing.

well it's also a sports player, so the odds of these people being liberal goes way down b/c of that

liberals are much more likely to hate sport and accuse him of being privileged, which led to his "light" sentence

Oh I know but this board and others don't get that. They assume the hipsters and liberals root for the Universities.

at a certain point, we have to let people live normal lives when they've paid their dues for criminal behavior

however, there may not be a worse profession for a person on the sex offender registry than a pro sports player. he'd possibly have to constantly report all over the country when they arrived for series
Agreed.

From the comments of one of the articles:

Details in this article are meant to be destructive. Both reporters graduates from u of o. Hmmm

ETA: Danny Moran's twitter profile says otherwise though. Says he's a Northwestern grad. And Mark Katches went to San Jose State. So I believe the person commenting is just trolling

It will be an interesting locker room in the pros when his teammates have daughters aged 4-6 years old. I know I wouldn't want to be teammates with a guy who molested a child the same age as my daughter.

Totally different situation. Hill was a 18 year old high school student. Who got a BJ from a HS freshman. That only a issue because Hill was a popular athlete. If it was just a typical run of the mill student you would have never heard of it. I can assure you that seniors hooking up with freshman happen every single day.

FWIW this dude has thrown his last pitch. Public opinion will never allow him to step on the field again.

So he commits a crime and fullfills his requirements in Washington (including completion of his registration requirements). But Oregon has a rule where you have to register again if you committed a felony in another state?

EDIT: not clear how long he had to register in Washington

This is a key point, most MLB teams allow players families in the locker room before or after games.

The terms of his registration as a sex offender would be an issue, would he have to leave the locker room when children are present? What about community outreach events. I have to think he wont be going to Willowbrook Elementary for 'read with a ballplayer day'.
