Legitimate online side work - Hampster wheel stuff

Does anyone know of a legitimate online side workplace that I could sign up, put in 1.5-2 hours a day and actually earn steady side money to save for vacations, luxury items, etc?
I have been looking for a while and everything seems to not be steady work, which is understandable. I am not interested in getting a part time job, driving for uber, or stuff like that. I want to pop on the computer, do some mundane task online and make $25ish or more a night, any time I want. Is that even possible?
Does anyone do this? If so, can you point me in a direction?
TIA

You read it wrong. $25 per 1.5 to 2 hours, not $25k/year.

uhh your math is a bit off.
Lets say I earn $28 in 2 hours. That is $14 / hr.
10 hours a week. 520 hours * 14 = $7280 or roughly $600 a month.
Don't know where you got those numbers. No where did I say I expected to make $25 an hour. I expected to make $25 in 1.5-2 hours of time investment.

What do you do for a day job? Is there anyway you can use those same skills to do side work at night?
There are a lot of freelance opportunities in bookkeeping, graphic design, writing, computer coding, etc.
I know some people that have used Upwork.
You could also make stuff to sell on Etsy, etc.
I don't know if any of that stuff would be "steady". If you want steady after-hours work, go learn to be a youth sports official. Between baseball, softball, tackle football, flag football, and basketball, you could pretty much find work year around. Pay is pretty good for part time, and it will keep you in better physical shape.

Couldn't pay me enough to deal with those kids' parents.

I have a talent for writing, and have done some freelance writing before, just did not want to continue putting out heavy effort every night (good writing is hard work) for very little pay and almost no creativity. If I'm gonna get very little pay, I'd like it to be consummate with effort put out.

Get your Life & Health Insurance license and sell insurance p/t. Just about everyone is underinsured as far as life insurance is concerned and you can build up some nice trails over time. There are plenty of 1099 agencies that will get you appointed because it doesn't cost them anything if you are 1099 and not using their office. Getting licensed is cheap and easy.

What about contracting with a local newspaper? I have a friend that does this for the T-P. They write a weekly article for the community section, and I think they get $50 per article (they are not that long) and if they provide a picture, I think they get another $10. People are always e-mailing him asking for coverage of this fish fry, that raffle, this person of the year, etc. Spend 30-45 min interviewing and taking a picture, another 45 min or so banging out a few hundred words, done.
Another friend is a part time travel agent for a company that specializes in Disney travel. If you know a lot about Disney (or find another travel agency specializing in an area that you do know about) you can make some money just helping them book their trip and collect payments. She gets 10 percent of the cost of the trip. The only downside of the trip is that you don't get paid until after the trip is complete. I sent some people to her to book a Disney Cruise, they booked a year in advance and had 4 rooms with a total fare of $17,000, she didn't get paid until a year after they booked but she got $1,700. If she did a total of 6 hours of work I'd be surprised.

It's not bad. You learn to ignore it.

What do you think the best way to find a bookkeeping client is?
Advertise in Craigslist, look on the Craigslist classified, other?

Craigslist, word of mouth
If you are somewhat serious. look into the QuickBooks Pro Advisor program. If you get trained and certified, there are some listings and what not you can get involved with.

Mechanical Turk may be what you are looking for. It takes some time to build your reputation to earn the best jobs and they go quickly, but it might be the best option.

Really?
If I wasn't finally buckling down and passing that freaking CPA exam, that is something I wouldn't mind doing. Minimal amounts of money, but I bet you could help out a small business owner.

I wonder how you get setup to do this. I could easily run some Excel models to help a small business owner...and I'm a nerd who enjoys doing it.
No idea what people charge to do it. I would likely be willing to build something for $300-500 depending on how involved it is.

Hmm...definitely going to look into that. How hard is it? How expensive is it?

This, although I think doing adult rec leagues is better. You'll still get the occasional arse but kids are usually worse, not to mention their parents.
Source: I did this in grad school.

I used to be one, but with my day to day duties now I don't do much bookkeeping anymore. But we have someone on our staff that is one.
There are three levels, a free, and two paid levels. The free level lets you use the online product, and the paid levels let you use various desktop versions. You get the software included each year.
You also get, depending on your price level and your certification level, US based tech support during Monday - Friday. This alone is worth the price of admission.
The tests aren't very hard. You can either go through the training and take the test, or skip the training and go straight to the test. They also offer CPE for some of it.

Thanks. I think I'm going to go free and pass the basic test and then see if I can get a client, as one is probably all I can take on. But a few extra bucks a month would be nice.
