Hmm, ok. And then I can pay mortgage and bills like that? So it doesn't have to be any specific card and I can earn up to 5,000 miles/points a month?

Then what do you do with the money on your redcard?

Log onto your Redcard account online.

Send the money to:

The card you used to load it (Loop) - I don't do this as a personal preference, but haven't heard of any shut downs.

Pay off a different credit card - I do this all the time with Serve

Pay off other accounts that the system allows you to add - Car, mortgage etc.

Obviously, you gain points on the load, so liquidating off Redcard is just personal preference.

Right, you can load $5,000 a month with any CC.

That's awesome. If I run into a problem getting to my 4k level with my Chase Sapphire Preferred, I'll seriously look into the REDcard.

They don't have them in stores in Columbus OH though, only Cleveland

So I can go to target. Load $5000 on redcard using Amex - Then pay off Amex using redcard?

I think you can only load $1000/transaction and $2500 per day.

Not sure how the load process works. Is it at an ATM or the cashier/customer service?

You could yes.

As Kosmo said, $2,500 a day, $1,000 per transaction, $5000 a month. So you could go to Target and just loop around the registers a couple times to get the daily load limit.

I also prefer not to do a pure loop (CC1, Redbird, back to CC1), especially with Amex since they operate the Amex Redcard so they could theoretically "see" every thing. I try to obfuscate what I'm doing just a LITTLE bit

Well, I guess I'll have to go check out Target next time I'm around

I easily have $5k I can pay out monthly if this works with mortgages, etc

Let us know if this works and if it is legit. If so, I mah buy one.

I don't know when the next time I'll be near one. Closest target that sells it is 6 hours away

Bacon, I vaguely remember reading that you can use amex to meet minimum spend or bonus targets, but they don't award points. Might want to verify that if wanting points as well.

From what they said on the website on page nine, it shows as just a regular Target transaction so you still earn points as well.

Are you able to transfer that money that you load onto the REDbird back to your bank account?

Yeah all I care about is hitting 60k in spending for the year. I don't want to do a "pure loop" for the obvious reasons Teddy mentioned. Can I throw that cash into my back account?

I have the Amex Serve card and it allows me to deposit directly back in to my bank account(2-3 days transfer time).

I just cancelled my wife's Serve account to order the Redbird, but had cash in it so I'm waiting for it to clear the bank before I register the RedBird card.

She's going to be pretty damn suspicious when I start tagging along for the weekly Target trip. Maybe I'll just find another time to go than grocery shopping time. That sounds terrible .

We rarely go to Target. But I gift my wife status on Delta every year so she's glad I do what I do

My experiences with Redbird:

I like it. I haven't had any problems (yet) loading in Louisiana...Baton Rouge more specifically. The only hurdles thus far are that you have to do it at guest services because it isn't available here and some representatives don't know the terminology. I have found they feel more comfortable with the "hi, I need to pay my redcard". I load $1,000 a day spaced out throughout the month...up to $5,000.

I don't use credit card loads. I go through shopping portals and buy AMX gcs. I then take those gcs and load my redbird/redcard. So far so good but I know it's not going to last.

Nice. I had not considered that option

Interesting. I want it simply for that fact. Seems it is an added step to buy GC and then load but I'm not sure of your personal situation. Reason I ask is because don't GC have a $5 fee?

If you're doing 5K a month that amounts anywhere from to $50 to $125 in fees whereas CC loads have no cost.

Where did you get the card? I still need to find one and I was interested in how it would work in Louisiana since no stores offer it. I imagine most employees don't even know what Redbird is

I mean I use credit cards to buy the GCs and eventually will use a cc for a load but not yet. I go through shopping portals and can get anywhere from 1.5% to 2.25% back depending on the time. I typically buy $5,000 worth. I usually get two $2,000 gc with a $3.95/ea purchase fee + shipping.

I got the card in TN. You can, or have someone else, get one and then you can register it online with your personal info.

So yesterday I applied for a British Airways (My wife already has hers and 52,000 points so our household account will have 104,000 when I'm done.

She got the American 50k deal. I was refi-ing when the US airways dropped. I thought it would last longer than it did. Oh well. That gives 122k for me and 50k for her.

She will get the United 50k offer soonish. She has a metric ton of credit with Chase so I'm canceling her Southwest that we already abused and "losing" $10k of credit with them just to lower exposure.

Still haven't really picked on a hotel card besides SPG. Think I may have to take a Chase break since I'll be going after CSP later this year and don't want to piss them off.
I have 21,000 points left with United from the discounted Asia Bus/First booking.

About 14k UR with Chase. Thinking of putting that to use with United to fly Copa to Panama City for a weekend with a friend.

Suggestions for targets? If we have this wedding in Williamsburg this Oct I think I'll get her the Citi Prestige to cover it (Get her Global Entry, pay my ticket with the $250 airfare, book hers with AA using Thank You points) as I want the Avios for MSY to DC nonstops for visiting her family.

Very nice. 125k and 135k are my goals for each account to have. That gives 2 first class one ways to any/everywhere except the middle east.

Data points:
I have 5 Chase cards active and roughly 90k CL between the 5. 2 biz & 3 personal. I've had 7 in less than 2 years.

I feel the same way about wearing out my welcome with Chase. Too many good options to do it, but I have read plenty about people that have been down this road before with no issues. I use each of my cards monthly >$100 and 2-3 transactions minimum. I'll try and get the CSP as well if/when it bumps to 50k. I don't find it worth it with my current CC portfolio at 40k points.

Think you'd get better value out of the SW companion pass? Apply in late Nov or early Dec and hit min spend first month of 2016? They have directs to DCA/BWI, so you'd be talking ~5k points/person each way.

It's nice to be able to transfer 5-7k UR points and get 2 flights. That's one Staples order. .
