As soon as he did it I immediately thought he was taunting. Even if he wasn't that was the perception of many. Obviously he was excited. GREAT play...wish he could have held his emotion 8 more yards. If he wouldn't have turned and looked I don't think they would have called it.

LSU should have been penalized at the spot Wing started the run from. It was the ultimate taunt by Wing, a mere punter, to decide on his own to run for it. LSU should have turned the ball over on downs at 4th and almost 30 because of Wing's egregious taunting.

My friends and family were watching the game at my house and we were all in agreement when one of us said something to the effect of: "I bet Gary Danielson says that Wing did nothing wrong."

And of course Danielson was as predictable as this message board and most of America.

Besides, we had all heard more than enough about what Danielson feels about certain types of quarterbacks to know that he would have no problem with what Wing did.

Now if Jordan Jefferson had done the same thing...the Tiger Droppings lynch mob would have been out in full force in record time.

Agreed. But to be fair, Jefferson wouldn't have had as satisfying as a statement as Wing. Even assuming he took as much responsibility(doubtful based on history), he's plays a scoring position and can't say he hadn't been disciplined on the rule.

Because Wing made such a "satisfying statement" as you put it, I'm just going to assume that he possesses enough intelligence to know beforehand about the taunting rule. That, and the fact that he's a member of LSU's football team, punter or no.

What he did was selfish and stupid. He has apologized for his actions.

No excuses necessary and no need to come to Wing's defense. Especially since most started doing so the second the penalty was called.

That the sentiment on this message board reflects the sentiment of the majority of America.

And that majority decides who gets excuses made for them and who gets villified.

Same shite--different day.

I'm pretty sure G Danielson thought it was a good call by the officials. He said that the rule itself is lame.

Get ya facts straight before bitching and yelling double standard

Ahh...the old victimization scheme when there are no victims. Gotcha.

That's what gets to me. He was so happy! This kind of thing may never happen to him again, at least in college - or ever.
And then he raised his arms and it was "unsportsmanlike conduct".

Spreading his wings, it may be a signature thing he has always done to represent his last name but the smile is so big that it becomes a little intimidating

Damn dude, this has nothing to do with JJ (who everyone cheered this week). Your arguments implying the motivations of all the posters here are really stretching things. Just stop.

Frankly, I don't think it was a taunt. I think it was an excited kid that never dreamed he'd score a TD. I think Les should try to get him a TD against Ole Miss to make up for it.

Who said anything about victims? I said villified. And there's an example for you.

Wing screws up. He's our golden haired hero.

JJ is minding his own business and had nothing to do with it...he should be more like Wing.

Danielson said the rule is the rule and should be enforced--but that there was nothing egregious about what Wing did and that the taunting penalty should not have been called...just like most everyone on this message board has screamed from the mountain tops.

Maybe you need to get your facts straight.

don't take one quote and make your life miserable because of it. What you perceive wasn't an issue until...now.

Amazing how quickly someone can ruin a good thread.

Its funny that similar things happened in other games that day and it wasnt called. Im with pollack on this one, it was bull and lets stop talking ab it before it pisses me off again.

I see so much taunting by not only lsu defenders, but defenders across the country. It is never called.
