After the game, a lot of people were of the opinion that he was taunting, without question. The way he comes across, how he looks in the still shots, and his explanation, it seems pretty obvious that he was just beside himself that he was about to score a touchdown.

It was a great play no matter what.

I was awestruck. Thought I was looking at magical CGI. Then that little count threw the flag.

He should blame himslef. But, it was a great call y Les and by the coaches that saw the opening. Until the mental mistake, it was a great run by Wing.

Ancient history now. He has been almost a MVP this year

1. The call was his.
2. When bigger mistakes are not called, it is a justifiable assumption by him, that his raising his hands for 0.1 seconds would not matter.
3. Even if it were a mistake , it is so small that he should acknowledge it but not need to have to apologize for it as though it was bigger than it actually was.

4. According to everyone (including coaches/players) the CALL was ENTIRELY HIS to make which shows guts and agility in addition to presence of mind and helped keep the drive alive.

The guy has only boomed 45 yard punts into the 10 yard line each time he touches it and has done what he did in the Florida game - HE is at the very least the Special Teams Player of the year for the whole of NCAAF.

it wasn't the coaches that called it...it's an option the punter has if the D turns and runs, supposedly Clement saw them do it on the prior kick that was called back for a penalty and told Wing to haul arse if they do it on the re-kick

How could anyone question that his punting, giving the other temas such bad starting postion made the defense (well helped a lot) so good.

He is Punter of the year and All American

It was the right call on a great rule. Just so happened we were the ones it happened to. Lucky score meant nothing there.

Can't be a kicker for LSU unless you run a 4.4

Great Rule?? I have to disagree with you on this. I understand the taunting rule, but to return a score is BS to the highest. These are college kids trying to have fun.

acting like a jerk and diving into the endzone, doing a flip is stupid. What Wing did was soooooo miniscule and border line

You could argue whether it should have been called, but how can you consider this a great rule? Seriously. Taunting should never be more than a dead ball foul applicable to the next play.

Not only is it not a great rule, but it is probably the dumbest rule in all of competitive sports.

A kid with lots of class.

He was guilty of a rule infraction.
He admitted it and accepted the penalty for his action.
No whining coming from a class guy.

Great rule in the enforces sportsmanlike behavior. Caoches need to teach their players to be classy and not do the Deon High Step or the Mark Gastineau sack dance. Wing's infraction was puny, if that

Classy indeed and will go a long way for any NFL team wanting to draft him in the future (IMO).

I agree that unsportsmanlike conduct should be penalized, but I stand by my opinion on the appropriate application of the penalty.

And I don't think Wing's actions broke the letter of the rule either.

It wasn't a dead ball penalty. The infraction took place during live play.

The following excerpt shows the class of Wing and Miles:

"I do think there's a large amount of disrespect in taunting and that's not what I'm about," Wing said Monday. "I've never been anywhere near an end zone before. I was so excited and the emotion got the better of me ... and I made a silly mistake."

"If I'm the official, I'm making that exact call," Miles said Monday. "How would you feel if that was your son playing for the opponent when that guy decides to taunt you? In reality, when you look at what Brad Wing did, I don't know if it was more joy than taunting and I'm not certain it was flagrant in any way, but that being said, when you're an official and you have to make the call ... I think he threw the flag at the right time."
Wing said he understands the logic behind the rule and does not blame the official for throwing the flag.
"It is a rule, so we have to abide by it and I did clearly break it," Wing said.
