Not gonna dis miles....but the first half was an abortion....you pumpers can spin that anyway you want....it doesn't change the fact. Still some issues with clock management....I know first game and all but Wisconsin didn't seem to suffer with those problems.
Second half....great! Coaches made adjustments....players executed....good job!
I just hope we're not gonna get behind like this a lot because we will run into SEC teams that aren't gonna leave the door open like Wisky did. In general our offense is not designed to make big comebacks like we did. Kudos to JD/TD for going beast mode. Theyre going to b great ones before they're done.
We were vulnerable in the middle where we thought but made strides in the 2nd half.
I'll take the win anyway we can get it. But you SPs who think we're not going to continue to see these type of games as long as miles is coach are kidding yourselves. This is how CLM wins....this is what he does and who he is.
I don't particularly like it but I've learned to expect/accept it.

Now that my friend is some quality droppings. Best post in this thread and POY nominee

quote:

He has been, and remains, a polarizing HC. He's a very good recruiter, but not an equally good HC, especially on game day. What we saw last night is a prelude to what LSU football is going to be for the remainder of his tenure.

And to whoever posted this, and all the Madden Hall of Famers sucking him off about being "spot on", explain to me how is it that Miles is "a very good recruiter, but not an equally good HC, especially on game day", but he just so happens to be the ONLY COACH IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY to have a winning record in games in which his team trailed in the 4th quarter. THE ONLY ONE. ANYWHERE.

I'm sure your brigade will spew some limp wristed hypothetical with no facts to back it up like "Well a really good HC wouldn't be trailing in those games to begin with" blah blah blah.

Miles is an exceptional game day coach and HIS RECORD PROVES IT. Not only has he won more games than ANY OTHER COACH since coming to LSU, but he has consistently shown over almost a decade the ability to rally his team when the game is on the line, to identify the things that aren't working and exploit weaknesses in the opposition to achieve victory when defeat seems imminent. And he has done so more than ANY OTHER COACH. PERIOD.

That my friend, is one of the clearest marks of an elite head coach that I have ever seen at any level.

Does he go into every game with the exact perfect game plan? No. But show me a single one Iin the history of sport that does??? Last night was one of those times when the plan didn't play out the it was drawn up.

But he fricking fixed it on the fly, and did it in a huge fricking hole with all the momentum stacked against him and his players. Again, THAT IS WHAT GREAT COACHES DO, and what Miles does better than ANYONE.

If you and your ilk can't see that, then you are truly blind.

Miles is the leader so he must absorb all the criticism the team earns during a game. It's not all Miles hate, it's mere fans voicing their displeasure about different aspects if the game. You bitches are the ones labelling it Miles hate. He is the leader, the same as that jackass Obama takes heat for White House frickups that he is supposed to oversee, but doesn't.

Same with Miles. Wisconsin was not that good of a team, period. The big 10 sucks if they are favored. Their defense is slow and undersized. I don't care if the stack 10 in the box, LSU should have more than 18 us rushing against a dline we outweigh by 60 lbs!
We weren't ready to play and our run defense is worse than last year. Even Hunter was undisciplined over rushing a mobile qb and letting him break off long runs. We cannot win games coming out and laying down for a half. sEC teams won't let us back in the game.
To me, Wisconsin had to do everything they could to lose that game, and they did. Say what you want, without those 2 d linemen going down, LSU loses. .

But, we won. And just like Obama, Mile's gets the credit, deserved or not, because he is the top person in the program.

I LOVED the decision for no retun man that late in the game with a lead. There was hardly any time left and you have absolutely no chance to muff, or anything bad to happen that way.. YOU SIMPLY WANT THE FOOTBALL period.

Plus a lot of these guy's returning kicks this year as inexperienced and young.. If you noticed early on a punt White (I believe) dove into a ton of players to fall on a ball.. A highly risky play that was not going to gain anything extra.

LSU was very fortunate to win. If I were badger fan I'd be furious at coach for not running ball every play after they were up 17 on 3rd qrter.

Means les outcoached them. We kept pounding it, they did nothing. Kept their weak arse nickle defense on the field and we battered them with hilliard.

Haters! All Miles does is win damn near 80% of his games. Sets records and his players love him. Quirky, yes. Makes mistakes, yes. A-hole no. Liar, no. Cheater, no. I'll tKd him over any coach any where because he loves LSU.

I thought it was a great win. Miles did a very good job of containing the damage, and correcting it.

I think the 2 most focused and motivated teams that played this weekend, based on what I saw, were A&M and Wisconsin. Both were good teams that were being (or perceived they were) majorly disrespected, had no chance, etc, despite having proven systems. A&M had the "no more JFF" factor, Wisconsin had the "Big 10 can't touch the SEC" factor. Both teams came out to prove a point.

South Carolina got punched in the mouth hard, and Steve Spurrier couldn't turn it around.

LSU got punched in the mouth hard too, but Les Miles was able to get his team refocused. They sucked it all up and fought hard enough to overcome the hole they were in, and won.

Carolina was ranked higher than we were, Wisconsin was ranked higher than A&M was. But I guarantee had Spurrier been able to rally his team to victory, he would be hailed as a great coach, and A&M would be given props for playing lights-out, despite having big holes in their defense. Here, Les did rally the team, but he's a dumbass who holds the players back, and Wisconsin was an overrated team who shouldn't be ranked because they can't pass.

Pretty much sums it up. You must not be a miserable frick.

I'm absolutely at a loss with some of these comments regarding Miles. He is not the best coach in the country, but he is our coach and is probably (IMO) a top 5 coach. He is entering his 10th year here, and his previous 9 have netted the second most wins in the country by any program in that time period - behind only Boise St and their weak scheduling. He has not lost a season opener, nor has he lost a regular season non-SEC game. Simply put - the guy just wins. Period. He has represented LSU, Baton Rouge, and the state of Louisiana extremely well and I believe that he truly loves it here. He has his faults - as does every other person or coach in the country. He is stubborn - what coach isn't? But, damn if I can't help but like the guy. I didn't at first, but I do now - because he isn't afraid to let er rip. He isn't afraid to be who he is. Because he genuinely appreciates and loves the fans (who are some of the best in the country - obviously biased here). And because he wins - a lot. Like, a lot.
