Last night was a mixed bag. The fake punt was called at the right time and executed well. Along with a key injury to Wisky's D, that completely turned the game around. The coaches did a good job at recognizing the matchup problems that Wisky's D had in the second half and exploiting them. Jennings looked much better when he just zinged the ball instead of trying to put hang time on every pass.

As usual though, the Tigers always manage a couple of real head scratching moments. Seriously, has anyone ever seen a delay of game penalty on the second half kickoff?

LMFAO...us opening up the offense like we did is what got us behind. We didn't run the ball near enough in the first half. They had 5 mins more possession in the first half because we kept throwing the ball on first down

This was laughably wrong.

What were Jennings' stats on first down in the first half?

I have no basis for this other than my opinion but I think Gordon pulled (or tweaked) his hamstring after that run to start the 2nd Half.

As far as the Miles hate, I haven't seen anything out of the norm but, personally, I think he's a top notch person, Loves LSU, a great recruiter, and hires top notch coordinators. He motivates his players and most seem to want to play for him.

Nope.. The FACT that LSU was able to put the clamps down and turn it up on offense when it mattered most is TOTAL MILES FOOTBALL. We came back from 17 down late in the 3rd and won without great QB play... To me THAT itself makes me think LSU was the most impressive team Saturday.... This team can be real special........

He has been, and remains, a polarizing HC. He's a very good recruiter, but not an equally good HC, especially on game day. What we saw last night is a prelude to what LSU football is going to be for the remainder of his tenure. Now of this is new, and not really worth the effort to post it.

Sucks to be you. Les' tenure had been a hell of a fricking ride.

how many games does miles have to win before people stop saying this. 9 years of luck? at some point, it's not luck or "fortune"

1st game of the season ans you have proclaimed his fate for his whole tenure.

We have 2 new QB's ..did you expect Joe Montana.

Fans should pull for their teams, not against them.

Go back to the Bama boards....

Wisconsin's players and fans are perplexed at why Gordon got no more carries in the second half
does anyone really think this would have made a difference? I don't. the d woke up and were keyed on Gordon and wisky knew it. otherwise, the secondary did what they do, shut down the passing game

this. our O-Line easily should've been man-handling the Wisky D-Line from start to finish, just on size alone. No excuse for their play in the first half.

Coach Grimes needs to put them through the paces this week in practice cuz that showing was atrocious.

In the end, happy we got the W

These are probably the people who thought:

1. We'd easily beat Wisconsin by 3+ scores because they looked at 24/7 recruiting rankings
2. Gordon was overrated B1G talent
3. Wisconsin playing easy opening games in the past had any relevance to this game

In other words, you shouldn't listen to them. We saw Jennings take a big jump in the second half, Dural and Diarse proved they can step up, and Les' fake punt call gave the team a huge boost. It seemed like a classic LSU game to me.

Running up the middle against a stacked defense. You gotta keep em' honest

the thing about starting an inexperience qb is that if you do start conservatively it gives them time to warm up and adjust to reading the D. the last thing we need is a repeat of the Lee scenario where he seemed scared for life after his being thrown into the fire.

anyways, I love coach miles and do not buy into the hate (and never have). the negative I have about miles is that our recruiting relaxed right after the '07 NC and we had a terrible OL and mediocre QB's.

Les certainly out coached me with that. I had a feeling we were going to fake it and just thought it wouldn't work. It did and was a well designed fake. Great job by Miles there.

Uh, because we looked totally unprepared the entire first half and basically got lucky that Wisky stopped feeding Gordon. That was not great coaching.

Halftime adjustments are made by the coaching staff.
LSU dominates the second half.

Those things go hand in hand. Anyone who argues otherwise is ignorant or too stupid to waste time on.

Good win by an inexperienced team that will have a month to grow before another big test.
