Agreed, LSU could use a mean/nasty streak about them.

yes true. Every year we compete for a NC. It's what LSU does. We did this year and we will continue to do so.

miles will blow at least one game a year, look back at every season, it cant be denied. Hard to compete when that happens.

2015-16 should be good years. Jennings will probably need a full year at the helm before we're ready. And if this recruiting class turns out as hoped...

Compete every year. But make it to and win a ship I say 2 years at the very earliest and 3 years as all LSUs young players mature. Hopefully Jennings will Stoll be at LSU.

Agreed. That's when the chips should fall into play. Although, we will have to go through another gauntlet to get there.

I believe that is the season where we travel up to Lambeau to play Wisconsin to start the season. Great opportunity for a statement game to start the year.

A couple weeks after that, Arizona State comes to Death Valley - another great matchup against a major conference foe.

We'll also have to travel to Tuscaloosa and will likely be away against our non-UF Eastern Division foe.

It'll be tough sleddin' but, Jennings will be in his third year at the helm, and a few Top 10 recruiting classes will have been in the system for a couple seasons. Depending upon how we finish the 2014 season, we could also get a good spot in the preseason polls, which would make the climb to the top spot a more feasible task (although, taking care of business with that schedule will likely propel us where we need to be regardless).

All that being said, I agree that 2015 is a more realistic championship run for us. Our offense will likely drop a bit in production due to new personnel at all the skill positions, but the defense will have a good bit of experience returning - both next year and in 2015. It certainly looks like the stars are aligning for that year.

People forget that there are 120 teams in college football.

In the PAC 12 there are 2 teams right now who can win the big one and two others that can continue to improve in USC and UCLA

In the big 12 you have 2 teams in Texas and Okie who have requirements to compete.

In the big 10 you have 2 teams in MSU and OSU

In the ACC you have FSU.

In the sec you have 4 in the west alone and around 4 in the east.

The sec is hard. Everyone is good.

The rest of the country has it easy.

Yes the sec has had a tremendous run but on several occasions it was because the rest of the country can't close out a season.

2013-OSU
2012-OSU on probation
2011- Ok state blows it.
2010- undefeated 1 and 2
2009- undefeated 1 and 2
2008- undefeated 1 and 2
2007- two loss LSU after a wild week
2006- one loss Florida

The sec needed a lot of help. Not saying they didn't deserve it (except for Bama because they didn't) but the sec is too strong for its own good at times. Luckily the other teams can't finish.

My point is it's hard to win a title. We compete 3 out of every 5 years. We will continue that trend. The playoff will ensure 1 and maybe 2 sec teams have a shot.

As stated earlier in this thread it's understandable when an elite junior player(s) leaves for the NFL. However, when seemingly every junior starter bolts it can be rather annoying to us fans.

It would be our luck to have every junior on the team leave except for Welter …………...

Lester better do something about the OL and DB situation at LSU from both a coaching and recruiting point of view or it's gonna be SEC West 3 for a long time.

I agree with this. At the very least, before Spring practice, find someone better than Curly.

I am assuming most people are going to go ahead and write off next year since we will have a green QB

Is this really a viable excuse? Florida State is playing for a national title this year with a first year starter at QB. Alabama won the 2011 national title with a first year starter at QB. Manziel won the Heisman trophy in his first year as a starter.

The Tigers regularly leave their opponents licking their wounds and limping out of the stadium after the games. As a rule,, teams don't play very well the week after they face LSU. Bama was a good example of that this year. Even in our worst loss of the year, Ole Miss lost a bunch of players during that game to injuries.

LSU practices and plays on a very physical level. The scoreboard does not always reflect that.

Now as for the aggressiveness of our LBs this year, I was disappointed.

This is a out and out lie. We were in the conversation yes. We lost to Ga. and for the most part we were done. After the Ole Miss. loss it was wait till next year. We get highly ranked at the start of every yr. because of what Saban built. Miles wins out of conference and beats the teams he should beat in conference for the most part, but when it comes to being unbeaten and a must win game comes up, we lose. Had miles come after Gerry D, He would already be gone.

LSU's program is to a point where I expect them to "compete" for the SEC and NC every year. However, I never "expect" them to win the SEC or NC. It's too difficult to win either to expect LSU to do so.

You really can't be this stupid can you?

So we get ranked high at the beginning of every season because of a coach that was here 10 years ago?

Agreed. Beating the snot out of your opponent normally results a "W" (look in Alabama's trophy case), and would avoid nail biting games in which a dumb coaching mistake is standard fare. However, as long as the current coaching at LSU remains unchanged, I highly recommend you do not hold your breath.
