re: What could LSU do to keep you in the stadium longer during football games?

They should allow general seating halfway into the 3rd or in the 4th quarter for empty seats. Allow people to move into better seats if those seats are not occupied by ticket holders. Make steps or elevator access from the upper decks to the lower bowl. This would at least encourage people in less desired seats to stay for better seats in the second half. It would also look better for those worried about the image. It may keep the lower bowl filled and nobody really sees the uppers on TV anyway.
This obviously could lead to some problems like fighting over seats, but ushers could help seat people who are wanting to move, and those leaving early from the better seats could hand off their tickets to the ushers so they can be passed on to fans who want to move.
Otherwise, make a courtesy announcement about midway through the third to encourage fans to stay and support the players till the end... at least try and guilt the traffic nannies into it.

With the new paid parking policies, why not pass out parking passes at the end of the game.
This could be done once the game is over. It could be something such as half off the next game.
Another idea would be a priority point system to have you entered into a lottery for free bowl tickets, or even a reduced price season ticket package. Just apply for a special card that gets scanned on your way out.

It's not that big of a deal to me.
Take pride in the fact you are only surrounded by a better quality fan base who share the same want to support their damn strong football team.

It's a traffic issue and traffic issue only for me.
I'll stay until then end if most everyone else does but if it starts emptying early I get out of there.
I park right next to the stadium and if I can get to my car before most everyone else gets to theirs I can get home in 12-15 minutes and watch the end of the ballgames on TV. If they get to theirs first then it can take up to 1 1/2 hours to get home. So frick that.
There most certainly are things they can do to evacuate the cars around the stadium very quickly but they do not care. It seems like the cops do whatever they can do to stay out of the way and do nothing about moving the traffic. It's as if they relish the thought of seeing all that traffic tied up since they have to work then frick everyone else.

I do believe that LSU should find some way to reward people that use their tickets and stay til the end of the game. I'm not sure what that "reward" should be, but it's definitely worth looking into something, as I think everyone benefits with a stadium packed for all games (even the crap games) and packed til the end. LSU as an institution looks better, fans look better, more $$$ through conessions, etc etc etc.
I don't think "giveaways" at the end of the game will do it alone though, I think it needs to be some combination of giveaways at the end of every game, fireworks after the game to keep families there, and maybe some priority points and/or better access to postseason tickets.
Selling alcohol in the stadium will help a lot, although that could cause seperate issues in itself.
This is not just an LSU problem,it happens everywhere, it just happens a litte more here given that we've had more success the last decade than any program in America ... it's inevitable and natural that our fans (including myself) have gotten spoiled and only seem to "get up" for the huge, national/SEC-implications type game.

Randomly select seat numbers and let fans go down on the field and toss the football around.

Stop allowing TV networks to be able to dictate the length of games.

Lots of comments here bout poor quality OCG games being the main issue, in that they are boring. But last yr's Ms.State conference came was close & entertaining & not decided till Loston ran his interception back for a TD with only 4-5-6 minutes left. And by that time there were mabe 40K in the stands. Even the tv announcers said how embarrassing it was for LSU. My opinion, after having hapd season tickets since 1961 is that it the type of fan now attending LSU games. As much as we mock The Grove for being a glorified cocktail party, that is what TS is to way too many Tiger "fans". Whether it's the ticket prices or just society today, LSU's core fan base has changed & noticiably so. When tailgating is perceived to be more fun than a game in TS, which I've heard often, there is most definitely a problem.

That's great and I'd like to have that EVERY season...for the 2010 and 11 seasons, I don't recall having any SEC nite games in Tiger Stadium. Do you even understand the premise of my argument ?

quote:I agree with everything you said.....the traffic excuse is total bs......but I do understand why people do it for ooc games that are blowouts .....myself I like to watch the younger players that get in the game to see how they look......I also think we can schedule some better teams than we do ..but I never leave early.
To be fair people are going to always find excuses. If traffic issues were eliminated, people would still have to get cranky kids home early during slow night games. Others live far and want to get a head start. People leave day games early because they are too hot, and usually versus weaker teams (with the exception of CBS games). If they sold beer, people would still leave in the 4th quarter because that is when beer sales typically end. I'd be willing to bet that there is a pretty average percentage across the country that leave games early. I personally don't see the logic in leaving most games early, but it is also a family tradition to stay until the end.

One more thing I know this thread is about the fan that leaves early .....it kinda bothers me , but whatever ........the idiots that get my blood boiling is the arse clown that is trying to start the wave in the first quarter of a conference game.....please stay your retarded arse in the parking lot...

If LSU is all about $, why don't they serve beer? That make millions.

charge $10/quarter to leave game.
leave b4 half = $30
leave in 3rd Q = $20
leave b4 end of game = $10.

I am lucky enough to go to lots of road games and I agree this does happen in other stadiums but not nearly at the rate of LSU. Being from Baton Rouge I try and go back every other year for a game and it blows me away at the prime open seats at the SOLD OUT game and then everyone startsrunning back to their tailgates or driving home after halftime. .A) support your team. They notice. B) People would kill for a chance to go to a game at Tiger Stadium. Relax and enjoy it while you can.
At an Auburn game, my brother and I watched about eight people in the row behind us all get up and leave at halftime after the Tiger band played. LSU was even losing at halftime. Nobody seemd shocked but us so they must do it evey game. Not acceptable.

Smoking section - several of my friends complain about the smoking Nazi marshals so they leave since they can't smoke. Drinking and not being able to smoke irritates them enough to head back to the tailgate early. The Saints have smoking sections and they have a fricking dome.
Traffic - contraflow works. Implement it and keep it consistent for every game.
