I wish the media would be fined for every sensationalistic headline...
They just want to talk to him since he knows the victim. But nahhh "NFL Draft prospect being questioned in murder investigation of former GF" sounds better.

The Fox8 and NOLA.com stories quote police saying the victim and Collins were romantically linked at one time. Quite different than what several posters on here are saying. Something is definitely not right. It would be very easy for Collins to put this to bed by speaking with police about the nature of his relationship and saying in no way could he be the father of this child. His agent seems more concerned with placing him nowhere near the crime scene when the murder happened. If you need a private investigator to help you establish an alibi you're probably already in too deep.
In my opinion this doesn't end well. You can book that.

Some of his attorney's public comments are not helpful. I have to wonder about why he said some of what he said. They've been "trying" to prove he was elsewhere and "the timing is poor"... Regardless of the outcome, those statements don't make Collins sound very good.
I'm assuming if his attorney knows he's good with his alibi, he wouldn't say that they'll sit down with the police after the draft and talk. Something's not right with the story and the attorney's comments.

Forgive my ignorance, is he a big criminal defense atty? Because I didn't find it odd that he had a lawyer on retainer during the draft process, i figured it's pretty common. But if he's a criminal lawyer, yea I see your point.

Yea he's a very prominent criminal defense attorney. Teaches classes/seminars at lsu law particularly involving criminal law and well regarded overall.

I have no idea. His attorney says there were witnesses who knew where he was at the time and they submitted that info, but that same time, he said they've "tried" to prove he wasn't around or whatever he said along that line. He said they'd hired an investigator to prove that which sounds ominous. Nothing he said indicates Collins was involved, but it was sort of weak in some ways.
A pregnant woman is dead. Saying "the timing is poor" for Collins to speak with the police doesn't do a lot for Collins' public likability. I was shocked that he said it. I'm thinking he'd like to take back some of those quotes right now.

I thought the same thing as I read that, that it was just a really poor choice of words. Let's hope it's just that. But more importantly, a girl is dead and a baby born without a mother. Let's hope justice is found and found correctly.

if you were being questioned in a murder investigation and had the resources, wouldn't you seek legal representation. seeking legal advice does not even remotely imply any culpability. some of you are simply amazing.

I don't think he is involved, but his lawyer says he hasn't been in contact with her since September. She was 8 months pregnant which means she got pregnant around August. There may be a chance he may be the father.

Jim Boren is one of the BEST criminal defense attorneys.
