I was referring to the other lists excluding him. I was referring to LaFell and Hamilton for your list.

Sheddrick Wilson should get an HM.

Todd Kitchen shouldn't make HM on this list. He was good but no where near as good as the others missing.

Maybe it's unfortunate that I mainly associate LaFell with that painful '08 season, and that horrible bobble against AU in the '07 game that popped right into the defenders arms. But I wouldn't argue hard against including him, but I'd have a hard time arguing against any in my top 5, plus and inclusion of Hamilton.

I feel a little wrong excluding Clayton in my list, and I don't think I'd put LaFell over him either.

Hamiton was great. Way before my time but he was such a beast.

Jarvis is the best that I have ever seen at LSU all things considered. Bowe was really good, Reed was damn near unstoppable, and Lafell is probably the most underrated. Eddie Kennison was really good too.

Foster I'm sure was in the running but a student chased him down

LaFell never had a lot of "wow" moments like Beckham/Landry. He wasn't as big and physical as guys like Clayton/Bowe. As you mentioned, he had some big drops early in his career. All that said, he put up some great stats despite playing with Lee/Jefferson for two years.

- 34 starts
- 175 catches
- 2,517 yards
- 25 TDs

He's had a nice NFL career, too. Just had his best season as a pro and won a Superbowl.

Wasn't Lafell the one that pretty much couldn't see early in his career then got contacts and became a different person?

What does everyone feel about Doucet? Super solid career, but maybe top 10?

I think that's Bowe. He admitted not being able to see the ball a lot, and I believe he got lasik and that turned him around.

One of the best athletes I can recall LSU recruiting, but he never struck me as a natural WR. He had some lingering injuries that took away from his explosiveness too. I do think he's top 10, though. He's third in career TDs, fourth in receptions, and ninth in receiving yards.

ETA: And of course, he had the "catch" against ASU to win the 2005 opener. An all-time great play.

Prior to his injury in 2007, he was without question our best offensive weapon. Had he been healthy all year, he would've been 1st team all sec, probably a low 1st-early 2nd rd pick.

Yes, this was definitely reported as such for Bowe. Not sure any clarification like this was ever given for Lafell's early dropsies.

Same for Devery (AKA Jack Hunt)

ETA: after his late conversion from RB to WR.

Probably not kosher to spinoff my own thread, but better receiving corps:

Bowe, Davis, Doucet

Clayton, Henderson, Green

Give me:

OBJ
Bowe
Clayton
Reed
Landry

and I'll go put together an air show.

Beckham and Landry get the benefit of recent history and the fact that this discussion is on an internet message board where most posters are likely under the age of 40, if not younger.

The reality is that despite his great 2013 year and his great rookie season, Beckham is probably (at best) 5th on the list.

1. Wendell Davis - 2X All American in an era where passing still wasn't prolific in college football. 1st in career receptions; 2nd in yards; 5th in TD catches, 2nd most 100 yard games

2. Josh Reed - AA and Belitnikoff winner. 4th in career catches; 1st in yards; 1st in 100 yard games. His 2001 season was the best in LSU history by a wide margin

3-5: (in whatever order you like) Eric Martin, Michael Clayton, Dwayne Bowe or Brandon LaFell. All are among the career statistical leaders in just about every category at LSU

Landry and Beckham were great WRs. They each could have been the best to ever play at LSU. The unfortunate reality is that (except for 2013) they played at a time where LSU de-emphasized the passing game
