Inspired by a 247 article I couldn't read.

In no order:

-Wendell Davis
-Josh Reed
-OBJ
-Eric Martin
-Dwayne Bowe

Honorable mentions:

-Todd Kinchen
-Jarvis Landry
-Michael Clayton

I won't rank because I really have fleeting memories of watching Davis play (I remember him catching a long pass against Ohio State), and I was mainly a fan of Martin because of what he did in New Orleans, and I really didn't start paying attention to LSU football until around the '86 season.

I'm back and forth between Reed and OBJ as #1. Reed was phenomenal and had the stats, but OBJ was the better talent.

Some of you old school fans can set me straight, I'm sure.

Davis and Reed should be on everyone's list. I'd have Clayton on mine as well as Bowe and OBJ.

If we're talking LSU career, I think Landry > Odell but it's very close

So difficult to compare different eras of players. Andy Hamilton made a Notre Dame All- American cornerback look like a fool but Andy never put up big numbers to have anyone ohhh and ahhh over him.

Josh Reed was the most productive and has to be top 5.

Wendell Davis also must be on the list.

The remaining 3 should come from the following group IMO:

Odell Beckham
Jarvis Landry
Dwayne Bowe
Eric Martin
Todd Kinchen
Tony Moss
Craig Davis
Brandon LaFell
Michael Clayton

Really?

OBJ: 143 2,340 16.4 12

Juice: 137 1,809 13.2 15

ETA Saw your edit, and it's very close. OBJ offered a lot more in his return game, but that's not something to hold against Juice as far as the WR position. OBJ was flashy, Juice was solid.

yeah I agree. They were one of the greatest WR duo's ever. From talent, their love for the game, selflessness, love of team...

Beckham was great, but I don't think he's in contention for our best WR. He only played three years, and he cost LSU a couple of games with some crucial mistakes (UF '12, UGA '13). I still think that Landry was the better college WR despite Beckham winning the stat battle. Landry fractured his foot in Fall camp prior to their freshman seasons, and had he been healthy, I think he would've seen a more prominent role from the jump. Seemed like Mett looked for Landry specifically when LSU needed a big conversion.

I hate ranking guys that I didn't personally see play, so I'll go 2000s til now:

Josh Reed
Michael Clayton
Landry
OBJ
Bowe

LaFell is right there, too.

Landry over Beckem. Landry was close to leading nation on 3rd down conversions and had more TD's

Love these threads.

Yes, Martin is in my top 5. I wasn't born when Hamilton played, but I know he's obviously going to be on a lot of people's lists.

I was a big LaFell fan, but he didn't stick out to me when coming up with my list.

Any list that excludes Martin is just bogus. (others left him out) LaFell had a hell of a career at LSU. He could easily be in top 5.

Did I type "Eric Martin" in invisible ink?
