It not a very smart idea to bet against les miles in a big game. Especially since has 9 months to prepare.

Bitch please. Do you know what Les Miles's record would be if he coached in the pac-10. I am as critical as anybody on Les Miles but crazy as he is, he is a good coach.

so when you lose an obviously bad offensive coordinator its not good and when you dont lose a perceived bad head coach that wins games its also not good. Makes perfect sense...

frick Oregon. They haven't seen a defense as fast as LSU's. My plan is to go to that game, and yell from the stands, "C'mon, hurry up! Hurry up! What's the matter?! C'mon hurry up!" Because once Kelly sees what he's dealing with, I doubt seriously he's going to be pulling that bullshite.

There is no guarantee that LSU will beat Oregon. On the contrary I believe that a new OC is somewhat of an advantage, all things being equal i.e. coordinator has full control etc.

I agree that we will not suffer at the RB position. IMO Ford will be outstanding. I think we will have an excellent balance between Ford and Ware's 1-2 punch. I wish Ridley well.

I have confidence in the Chief. It's said that line-backers are his specialty. I think LSU will be just fine in this position. I simply was not that impressed with Pep. I've always believed we were weak at DE when we had to start Pep. I cannot say we will do any better at that position in 2011.

Looking at the offensive coordinator position both past and future state. Some of you will probably upchuck. I have said all along that Crowton's inability to coach QB's is the downfall of JJ. That is why he continues to repeat his mistakes and why Lee continues to throw off his back foot.

You can have a good offensive coordinator and not coach or develop QB's and you can have a good QB coach and not do well as offensive coordinator. IMO we have experienced both in "Crowton & Fisher"

There are mixed emotions about the hiring of Kragthorpe. The jury is out as to if this is a successful hire. One season is not going to provide that answer either. I've been what is referred to as a Nagatiger when it comes to Miles. I don't drink P&G kool-aid and do not wear the P&G glasses.

Personally I will wait to form an opinion on hiring of Kragthorpe. No matter if I like Miles or not, he is and remains the HC. I'm not on the Miles bandwagon, however I will support the fact he is the HC. I do want Miles to be successful because that means LSU is successful. What I observed during the Cotton bowl & reflecting on the season as a whole, give me hope for the future state of LSU football.

I do not believe we overpowered a powerful aTm team no more than I believe we beat a weak aTm team. I liked the balance, I liked the game plan and the fact that JJ was somewhat turned loose as well as playing so many freshman. Allowing the coordinators to do their jobs within the overall strategy and playing the best at all positions regardless if they are freshman or upper classman is what I've wanted.

Compared to the rumors of promoting from inside the LSU staff, Kragthorpe is an excellent choice IMO. Get ready to upchuck- I predict that Zach is not going to start over JJ. I believe we have a solid QB coach. This will be an advantage for JJ to go with him starting his 4th season in the system. I may eat crow but I don't think I will have to. For all those that may believe Zach is the second coming of the Ruston Rifle, don't think for one minute that JJ is going to roll out the red carpet for Zach, and turn over the keys to his caddy. Zach will have to take it from him.

This guy needs to re-think his logic. I like how he says that LSU "lost" Crowton to Maryland like they lured him away with more money or something. And this is a bad thing apparently for LSU. Yeah, okay.

So some blogger disses your coach and all of a sudden the Ducks are the most terrible people on Earth according to some of the posts here. Might I add, it is only one writer's opinion. He did say most think the game will be a tossup before he listed all the players you lost. We lost some too.

Most knowledgeable Duck fans think this game will be close. Auburn's Fairley did cause problems as he did for everyone and LSU doesn't have a dominant player of his stature. It doesn't mean you don't have a decent DLine. Most teams do not play anyone as fast as the Ducks and very few have defenses that can even pretend to keep up. USC is one and most believe LSU is another. That is one thing that makes the game so interesting. The Ducks lost some good players, but their replacements have a lot of experience. Kelly rotates a lot.

I heard a lot of talk about your running game. If you depend on the run you will be in trouble. The Ducks know how to stuff running teams and have been noted for it for years. If you can pass also, it opens things up. If you don't have a passing game, then you are in big trouble. We do have good DBs but they can be burned if they are in man coverage while we stuff the run.

The Ducks are a very good running team and they do pass. We were hurting in the passing game this last year because we had good possession receivers, but not the burners who would stretch the field. When LaMichael James is in the open field he scores. When DBs can be close to the line because there are no burners, he doesn't get his open field. The Ducks heavily recruited speed receivers and have some redshirts who hopefully will step up, stay tuned. If they have the burners, Thomas has the arm and the Ducks will score like crazy.

LSU has great athletes at almost every position so the Ducks will be challenged. Expect the same in reverse though. At this point, I couldn't pick a winner. I will say though, the winning team will have a good launch to the NC. The Ducks will be good next year and may very well win the PAC12 even if they lose to LSU. You may very well win the SEC even if you lose to the Ducks. We both gain on SOS regardless of how it comes out.

I also want to thank LSU for taking this game. Teams have been backing out of home and home games with the Ducks because they want easier wins. Georgia and Kansas State are the latest chickens to back out.

Sorry to rattle on so much. So here's to a good season and may you win all your games after your first game.

Welcome to the rant CLDuck! Classy post! All schools have some cool fans and some a$$hole fans. We'll just let the players settle it on the field. Good luck to y'all from the second game on.

Pretty safe to say LSU sees team speed just about every weekend and it won't come as a surprise. Should be a good game if there aren't too many first game jitters from either team.

CLDuck, LSU had the best defense in the SEC this past year. Auburn's was fifth. Add that to your calculations when speaking of a player as dominant as Fairly. Honestly, Oregon has failed to put up points against any premier OOC team. A point a minute versus the Pac-10 isn't impressive when you get slammed down against Boise State, Ohio State, and then Auburn.

I suppose what I'm saying is that if you want to be rational about this, then you have to confess that you're going up against a team with superior athletes that has a MUCH higher team speed than Oregon. The only "speed" Oregon had this year was the speed in which they snapped the ball. Nearly every player on Oregon will be slower than his defensive counter-part versus LSU (unless you're matching L. James against a linebacker). Then again, Auburns defensive lineman dragged James down from behind. Honestly, I watch all teams play or as many of them as I can and Oregon was very lucky to keep that game against Auburn as close as it was.

I don't mean to be rude or biased, but Oregon isn't a top 10 team this year. They will finish in the top 10 because their conference schedule will once again yield them with many wins, but Oregon's losses on the line, defense and WR renders them one dimensional. Really, let's see how Chip Kelley does when speaking of good coaches now that he's beginning to lose some of his standouts.

No. This will be all QB's first year in the new system. It's a complete overhaul, and :

a. Mett isn't an incoming freshman, but a proven JUCO QB .

b. Will be favored by a new OC due to the fact that he won't be waisting his time coaching a guy who's gone next year versus a guy who will be around for years to come.

c. WHY do people not seem to remember JJ not being allowed to run more than a handful of plays for 2008 and 2009 because he tends to be a little slow picking up new schemes.

Rushing Yards: 254
Carries: 50
YPC: 5.1

Now, I know Auburn put up big numbers rushing the whole season, but a lot of that was Newton. Newton didn't have a big rushing day in the BCSNCG. Oregon let Auburn's regular RBs run right up the middle. Michael Dyer is a beast, but I'm fairly certain that Ford and Ware are pretty similar as far as talent level goes.
