Go back and look at the stats in the TN game. The only reason it wasn't a blowout was turnovers. It wasn't about scheme as much as turnovers that gave TN the opportunity to stay in the game.

This dude is REACHING. Pep Livingston is replacable. Nevermind that we return 4/5 members of our O-line, all of our tight ends, two RB's who lettered, our qb, all of our secondary minus PP, and 2/3 LB's and a healthy Sam Montgomery.

And yes, it IS an advantage that we lose Crowton.

God I hope we CRUSH them. They don't scare me.

LSU will beat Oregon by at least 2 touchdowns. Honestly, I do not think the final score will be that close. Unlike Auburn, LSU will constantly pound Oregon's small defense between the tackles, which will lead to big plays down the field in the passing game. The only way Oregon will have a chance is if LSU commits silly turnovers to give Oregon a short field.

I would be a lot more worried about Oregon if we didn't have so long to prepare for them. I think with that about of time Miles will roast the ducks

Auburn's DLine was the 5th largest we faced last year. Size alone doesn't matter when we run the zone read. Your mammoths up front can't cover 2 gaps. The zone read is designed to send the ball carrier to the uncovered gap. Thomas seemed a little hesitant to keep the ball and hit his gap. We did not have a backup qb as our #2 blew out his knee.

The poster who brought up good SEC teams is correct. There are some good teams in the SEC. In another thread I said that if LSU goes undefeated, considering who they play next year, then there can be no question they are the #1 team.

Another poster mentioned your defense getting tired later in the game. That is exactly the reason for the blur offense. Tired players make mistakes and they react slower. A slow reaction to LaMichael James and he scores 6. That is the reason for Oregon's heavy rotation of players also, to keep them fresh. Oregon was often behind early in games and then scored in bunches as the other team's defense wilted.

I don't know your coach well enough to compare him to the Duck's Kelly. The writer of the article had a point of view, but honestly, big time football programs don't hire idiots and LSU is pretty big. So please don't think his point of view is typical of all Ducks. You will find that almost all Ducks don't like Crowton. He failed our offense once upon a time also. He messed up Dennis Dixon so badly we didn't know who our qb would be the next year. The new coordinator (Kelly) took Dixon from chump to Heisman candidate. Damn ACL injuries.

If you want to beat the Ducks, you will need to keep your big uglies from getting winded. They need to be able to play though it, so teach them to break wind and you will be fine. hahahaha

Here's a thread from a Duck board that will give you a better persepective of what most Ducks think about this game:

Early line on LSU vs UO

To think that Oregon's speed will take LSU by surprise is a bit of an overstatement. The SEC is dominant for 2 reasons:
1) The SEC dominates in the trenches. The defensive lines are huge, fast, quick, and strong. The offensive lines are powerful and deep.
2) Team speed in the SEC is insane. There are few conferences, much less teams that compete with the overall team speed of the SEC. Teams like Bama, Florida, UGA, LSU, and AU have speed at almost every position.

I cannot imagine the Ducks keeping up with LSU in either category and suspect another aTm like performance. While the Ducks are certainly a better overall team than aTm, I suspect they will suffer the same fate and in similar fashion. LSU's team speed, depth, and line dominance will show itself somewhere near the end of the 3rd, early 4th and LSU will win walking away.

We rotate a LOT on the dline so that shouldn't be a problem.

We'll go 5 deep at DE and 4 or 5 deep at DT.

DE
Montgomery - remember the name, he was injured for most of last year but was an absolute beast of a pass rusher before that

Adams
Edwards
Aghayere
Mingo - rush specialist

DT
Brockers
Downs
A. Johnson
Ferguson

Yeah, we lose our two starting DTs, but the next two have plenty of experience and talent. Brockers is probably the next Nevis/Dorsey.

Besides that, we have one of the top "big" DEs from last year - Ferguson - who has converted to DT, AND we have the #1 DT on rivals from this year - Johnson.

And if those guys don't step up, we've got this other former 5* waiting in the wings (Davenport).

So yeah, safe to say we'll be OK on the dline.

Oh, and they didn't lose certifiably insane head coach Les Miles to Michigan. Just ask yourself this question: Who wins the coaching duel between Chip Kelly and the Mad Hatter? That's like asking who's smarter: Stephen Hawking or Paris Hilton? Advantage: Oregon.

i would not say something like this. whenever miles is challenged, he kicks arse. he'll kick arse in this game too.

Mingo - 35 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks
Adams - 27 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks
Brockers - 25 tackles, 1 TFL
Aghayere - 21 tackles, 1.5 TFL
Edwards - 21 tackles, 4 TFL, 2.5 sacks
Montgomery - 18 tackles, 6 TFL, 2 sacks(in half a season)
Downs - 10 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack

Total stats for returning dlinemen:

157 tackles
22.5 TFL
9.5 sacks

Pretty good. We lose

Nevis: 57 tackles, 13 TFL, 6 sacks
Levingston: 25 tackles, 2 TFL

Losing Nevis hurts, no doubt. We'll need somebody to be that disruptive force in the middle. Losing Levingston is not really a big deal. He didn't even play against the run. We subbed in Brockers or Downs, usually.

LSU is a very strong football team with excellent team speed. offensively, LSU will run the ball between the tackles just as Auburn did. LSU will do this to control time of possession and to keep the Oregon offense off the field. I wouldn't be surpeised If Ware and Ford both post 100 yard plus games.

Defensive team speed will favor LSU.
The key for both teams will be turnovers. If LSU wins the turnover battle and time of possession, LSU will win the game.

Yeah, and I remember all of the arrogant Ohio St. fans in 2007 saying Jim "The Professor" Tressell was so smart that Les didn't stand a chance and LSU was going to be so clearly out-coached we shouldn't even show up....Hmmm, didn't turn out so well for 'em as I recall.
