Dodd looked capable in his fill in duty last year, so to have Clapp start means the coaches must be really high on him. And Dodd is an option if it goes unexpectedly awry.

Yeah, Dodd's performance last year gives me confidence in the interior line depth for sure.

They wouldn't start him if he wasn't ready for the job.
Miles and Grimes apparently like his nasty streak. He should be OK there next to Pocic, making the OL calls.

OL depth, (And DL-LB) really worries me though. Injuries are a part of the game and WILL happen, but will be especially critical this season. Need "Lady Luck" to be waving the P&G Pom Poms...........

His dad was my favorite player when I was a kid. Always visiting with fans after the games.

If the kid is anything like his dad, we have a gem

Not worried about OL depth, at all.

KJ Malone
Andy Dodd
Garrett Brumfield
Maea Teuhema

All 4 of these guys are ready to go.

Uhh what?

The OL might be the deepest part of our team. The 5 starters + KJ Malone, Brumfield and Dodd. Dillon Gordon is a 300lbs TE. And then we arguably had the best OL recruiting class in 2015 with Maea Teuhema, George Brown, Chidi, Toby Weathersby, Magee, etc.

We have a very talented and deep OL group this year.

He must be a boss to get the call over Dodd who looked great last year in limited action (NMST being the most significant). Pocic's size makes him a better play at guard short term and tackle long term.

Every consensus is general. "General consensus" is redundant.

Pocic is the most effective guard I've seen at LSU in many years. His ability to get to the LB level is impressive. He is strong as heck, too, as is Vadal. I bet Fournette will have over a thousand yards over our right side.

Edit for wrong side of the line

He almost reached the linebacker on Hilliard's jedi throw run. If he would have, we'd be talking about Hilliard's 80 yard touchdown in the Ole Miss game.

I disagree, but that's only because I'm such Trai Turner homer. Pocic is awesome though.

I wonder how many people on here want Dodd to start just because he is 300+. Anybody wanna bet first half of a game that we struggle running some on her will call for Dodd for no other reason? Apparently Clapp was significantly better for the coaches to play him over Dodd who got some playing time last year.

Only reason Dodd got playing time last year and Clapp didn't is because they were looking to redshirt Clapp.

I'm not concerned with Clapp at center at all. In fact, I think it is awesome. He should be our starting center for the next 4 years.

How can you have an opinion on someone when you haven't seen what they are capable of doing on the field yet?

Those two guys were unbelievable guards. Vadal is no slouch either. Pocic is a tremendous talent, and his brains and instincts separate him from the pack. I predict many people will know his name by season's end.

My opinion is that he's young and hasn't played.

I was only asking if that, in itself, is reason for concern or if most thought that he's a suitable replacement, regardless of experience.

QB's are going to be nervous about receiving balls touch by Clapp.

Apparently he's an incredibly smart kid (which is needed at center more than physical ability) and has a big motor. Stupid strong and light on his feet. I think he gets the nod for his smarts though.
