Thoughts on Clapp at center?

I guess I kind of always thought we'd put Pocic there.
Regardless, the general consensus seems to be that we'll have a very good offensive line, but a RS Freshman at center worries me.
What's the word on him (Clapp)? No one else worried about that position?

I am worried for whomever has to line up against him. They will find out that while he is the perfect gentleman off the field and represents our university with pride, when the pads go on it is like Jeckyl and Hyde, he gets a little salty!

I love our OL this year and think that are interior OL are going to turn a lot of heads, including Clapp.

We already know how good our guys outside are but most folks don't know about the rest of the unit.

I thought that Dodd would get the call at center or at least start over Clapp.

They wouldn't start him if he wasn't ready for the job. And now teams have to worry about us running right as much as they do left. Obviously our left side was the strongest, but with Pocic moving next to hawkins watch out... More screens too and play action.

Pocic at center was out of pure desperation. He is too tall for the position, I think he plays left tackle his senior year.

Centers are usually 6'2 to 6'5"

Pocic at 6'7 has a tackle frame IMO

Pretty hard to make a case for him one way or the other. None of us have seen him play much. Time will tell. I like to think of his youth as a positive though, and just think he must really be good to be starting for us as a RS freshman

I'm sure Clapp will be tested early in sec play, good thing is you can always swap Pocic back

I actually have a good feeling about Clapp and like Pocic better at guard anyway.

I think it means we've got some mean mother frickers on the interior line if him and Boutte are both starting. I like this line as much as any since we've had Trai Turner.

Yes, I thought Pocic would be more effective at either guard or tackle than center.

Let's give Clapp a chance--strong genetics--his father was a starter for the Tigers at DE in the 80's I think. As mentioned above, the coaches would not be putting him there if they believed he was not ready to start there.

Will deserves lots of credit for apparently winning the job up to now over Dodd & maybe Malone.

We're gonna have to reverse the playbook because all of those runs to the left need to be going to the right now. We are going to maul people with Clapp, Boutte and Vadal on that side

All I know is he is one mean sob (Senior Highlights) on a football field.

Clapp is a beast and I'm not worried about him starting at all

That looks to be the plan with Pocic at LG instead of RG, pulling in that direction. Then with Gordon on that side, Moore or Ducre at FB with Fournette getting the ball. Holy shite.

Dodd looked capable in his fill in duty last year, so to have Clapp start means the coaches must be really high on him. And Dodd is an option if it goes unexpectedly awry.

Thanks for the feedback. Doesn't seem like there is much worry for the position.
Hopefully, the line will be as strong as expected.
Either way, I think it's going to be a good year.
