My father in law (somewhat of a Niner fan here in Northern California) replied with this when I sent him the video of Eric Reid laying those pre-season licks and the news of him getting the starting job:

quote:

He was a great pickup. To have only 1 National Championship the past 5 years with so many players in the NFL tells me their head coach sucks.

It didn't matter more in the BCSNC or when he had them on the ropes and let it go this year?

Im saying the first game in 11 mattered the same as the game in 12. If we dont win either of those games, we dont win the sec. Only prob is, we won in 2011. So yeah that game meant everything until they were given a do over.

Too many at ESPN are pissing off a lot of LSU fans by disrespecting our coach Les Miles. With ESPN carrying many sec games now, fans who love carrying signs to the game may have a want to dish a little back. Hmmm. Wonder what they'll say?

The general perception is that Miles is a good coach but lacks the intangibles to be a great one. He is unfortunate to be compared to his predecessor and conference rival who is in the middle of an epic run in the modern era of football. Fair or not, his goofy demeanor and perceived lack of discipline is compared to the serious personality and detail-oriented approach of Saban.
OTOH, another national championship or two can change the narrative quickly (see Osbourne, Tom).

If LSU goes undefeated, it would great to have a sign made up to address ESPN's treatment of Les Miles. Hey ESPN Les Miles ask do you feel me now!14-0

Dude, I couldnt agree more. So much has been made about how great Saban was for taking LSU's program to the NC level- but what keeps getting left out is that Les continued to recruit at a top 10 level, and continued to have even more success at LSU than Saban ever thought of having. I cant help but feel like the media wants us to feel inferior to alabama, and that they want to make sure we all know they think CLM is inferior to Saban.

There are national media and those who post here that felt after 08 and 09 that Miles was destroying the LSU football program and that LSU would never be elite or even relevant again as long as Miles remained.

After shouting that BS from the roof tops, Miles bitch slapped those expressing such opinions by going 34-6, 21-5 and making LSU one of the elite programs in the nation and Miles the very most successful coach in LSU history.

Some were able to admit they were wrong bout Miles, but some never will and those take every shot that comes their way at the man.

I really like coaches who can be highly successful, but yet not take themselves so serious that they come across as jerk like.

I can't understand any LSU fan who is not enjoying the hell out of the last 8 seasons of LSU football, but each to our own.

Les but he has failed

I think the biggest problem in last years game was the predictability of Chavis' two-minute defense, with Alabama scoring quick touchdowns at the end of both halves. Miles takes risks, and with hindsight being what it is, we know rushing Ware there wasn't worth the risk. But the defense is what lost that game.

Well said. Whether we like it or not, national pundits feelings, and to a certain extent many of our own fans feelings, towards Les are tied directly to Saban and the success he has had at Bama. It's almost impossible for media types to mention Les without thinking of the red "elephant" (pun intended) in the room.
