re: 2011 LSU 4th greatest defense of the past 10 years (2012 UF #3).. - droliver
2011 LSU no worse the 3rd of last 20 years to me. 1992 Alabama was arguably the greatest of the modern era before the BCS...

re: Memphis, New Orleans also bid for SEC Baseball - droliver
AS travel by air is prohibitively expensive for this tournament, Birmingham/Hoover makes the most sense for fans driving to the game for the most teams in the conference as it's less then a 3 hour drive from Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Oxford, Starkville, Athens, Nashville, & Knoxville. The only other re...

re: Why is Alabama afraid to play UAB in basketball? - droliver
What a ridiculous argument. How much do you think we would pay UAB to play us? I'd wager it would be less than $750k. UAB would make over a million by travelling OOS to play someone.
I can tell you don't run a business. A) whatever we pay UAB it's essentially a net zero intr...

re: Why is Alabama afraid to play UAB in basketball? - droliver
They needed us and we didn't need them.
There is no us and them, both schools are part of the same system. It's incredibly retarded to take this posture towards playing UAB as they're a natural rival in many sports that's a very short and convenient commute between campuses. They a...

re: Why didn't Saban have more success at LSU? - droliver
LSU before Saban was a peer for MSU and Ole Miss most of the time, stuck in the middle of the SEC without realistic prospects of knocking off Alabama/Auburn for the SEC west. Saban imposed order to their potential and set the infrastructure for their continued success. He's absolutely the reason ...

re: Your school's Mount Bustmore - droliver
You could make a while list of QB at Alabama who fit the bill: Billy Ray, Jeff Dunn, Danny Woodson, Star Jackson, Phillip Sims Mike Dubose Most of Anthony Grant's top recruits in basketball The "Jumbo Package" of Shula's era...

re: The announcer fapping over Mike Shula's playcalling........ - droliver
Shula has become a very respected OC and QB handler at the highest level. Very proud to have had him as a player and coach at UA. He will get a shot in the NFL at some point in all likelihood...

re: Is Alabama football the single greatest sports program in history? - droliver
In popular culture its firmly the Yankees and the Crimson Tide football for dynasties. No one else is really in that discussion, and I'm not really sure anyone can achieve that kind of status anymore as its so tied up in history rather then just being good on the field. There's lots of good t...

re: What i gathered from the Clemson Vs Gumps game - droliver
They actually schemed well for Clemson. That QB just made some absolutely incredible escapes to bust coverage, otherwise that would have been a much bigger margin for UA with 8-10 sacks. Hes kind of like a better throwing Nick Marshall. All you can do is just tip your hat and say "too good" when a Q...

re: Post an unpopular opinion that you hold about your own school - droliver
1. We've lost the balance between academics and athletics 2. Dixieland delight is an embarrassment 3. The Million Dollar Band is awful 4. We play too much and too loud music at BDS. ...

re: Good on Dabo and Saban Addressing NFL Draft Score - droliver
Saban is just wrong here. Players should have the right to that perspective on their status whenever THEY feel like they're ready to hear it. It make make his job harder, but anything that benefits the student athlete should be slanted in their favor...

re: Want to see someone actually post a solid analysis of Clemson's offense - droliver
I think a good offensive comp scheme wise for Clemson is Texas A&M in terms of play calling and tempo. Against those teams you have to win 1st down to slow down the pace as they will eat you up with momentum. Alabama actually did well with that with OSU last year most of the game, but we got KILLED ...

re: Nick Saban vs. Bear Bryant - Who is Better? - droliver
Saban, and its not even close to me. The sophistication and intensity of the modern game is pretty radically different. I believe it's much harder to differentiate your program from the field now versus then...

re: AJ will Make Millions in the NFL - droliver
He will probably be traded as he will have significant value for the Bengals this off season and they're not dumping Dalton. He's made himself a great deal of money by showing he's at least a serviceable starter. While he may not be a star ultimately, he's dramatically more skilled and a stronger le...

Don't think the current system that leaves out a power 5 champion can continue. I'd be OK with 6 with a play in game for the lowest rank champion and an at large team....

MSU got blown out for sure, but they absolutely had a fantastic regular season with arguably the best series of wins of the 4 teams going into the playoff (Oregon, Michigan, OSU, Iowa). They deserved to be there...
