re: What will Alabama be like after Saban retires? - droliver on 1/17/17 at 9:28 pm
About 6 years ago, I heard from someone involved with the hockey club, that they were looking to add one men's sport. Rumor was it was down to soccer, hockey, and lacrosse. I think hockey is easily the most established club right now.
Uhhhh. No. Hockey is: 1. expensive to run...

re: Malachi Dupre NFL draft status... legit sauces - droliver on 1/9/17 at 8:51 am
Dupree has been limited by LSU's system. He's a stud, but doesn't really have the resume to show it. He seems like he'd benefit with another year unless he got a round 2 grade....

re: Arden Key wants to Play at 260lbs - droliver on 1/9/17 at 8:48 am
He needs to look at what Alabama's guys have done. They have gone the other direction and are 20-40 lbs lighter across the front 7 then they were in 2009-2012 to better address the HUNH/spread speed of the game and not be caught in personnel mismatches. Unless he's an inside lineman, the guy is alre...

re: Derek Barnett or Reuben Foster? - droliver on 1/2/17 at 6:22 pm
Reuben Foster is going to be a starter from day one who ever gets him. He would be a great pickup for the Saints. Tim Williams is kind of a specialist edge rusher. With a lot of holes to fill, I think he's not the way to go. ...

re: Deuce and Ingram - droliver on 1/2/17 at 6:16 pm
It's hard to argue that drafting a player at RB who's been to a pro bowl (and has a good chance to be added as an alternate again this year) and is your #1 RB and still getting better after 6 years in the league was a bust by any stretch of the imagination. That kind of production, stability, and lo...

re: Do Bama fans that want everyone to cheer for SEC in NC pull for Auburn in SB? - droliver on 1/2/17 at 6:01 pm
We've kind of transcended the rivalry with Auburn and the rest of the conference in the short term, so beating Auburn or them losing OOC isn't really something most fans are caught up with. The playoff era has kind of changed the goal and made the regular season more like basketball in that it'...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

I always root for the SEC in these matchups. A strong showing by the conference and perception of strength helps everyone. It's the only way we might sneak 2 teams back not the playoff down the road...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Opinions on beating 2016 Alabama... - droliver on 12/28/16 at 12:07 am
Alabama is definitely beatable, as 1. this years offense can be stymied at times more then the last 4-5 seasons 2. we turn the ball over frequently 3. our FG kicker is erratic A low scoring game that comes down to field position and kicking could absolutely upend us. I'm not sure anyone is g...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
So you don't count the last 3 points because LSU gave Alabama the ball deep in LSU territory, but ignore the other three Alabama trips into the LSU red zone that netted 0 points (missed FG, turnover on downs at the 1, mercy knee)? Got it.
This. It took a whole lot of things to br...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Who wouldve made the playoff in 2006 - droliver on 12/23/16 at 7:34 pm
Ohio State 12-0 Florida 12-1 Michigan 11-1 Louisville That was a phenomenal Louisville team btw, with the best offense of any of the contenders that year. They would have been in the NC game that year but for a fluke loss at Rutgers on an offsides call on a missed FG attempt that gave...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Now that LSU has hired Matt Canada, how do you think he will do? - droliver on 12/17/16 at 9:47 am
Great hire for LSU, but on paper Kragthorpe and Cameron were too. I suspect Coach O gives him a much longer leash then Miles to do his thing. Will be an upgrade regardless. With merely an above average QB, LSU will be a very solid offense with their talent...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: The Biggest Busts in SEC History - droliver on 12/10/16 at 1:13 pm
Ryan Perriloux (QB LSU) and Billy Ray (QB Alabama) weren't busts, as they were both very successful after transferring. Perilloux was named Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2009 and Billy Ray was an all ACC QB for Steve Spurrier at Duke....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: 5 best coaches since 1990 in SEC - droliver on 12/5/16 at 8:36 pm
Pretty easy to rank them (on just their SEC records) The top 4 are pretty easy to peg: 1. Saban 166-34 (.830) 2. Spurrier 208-76 (.732) 3. Stallings 70-16-1 (.814) 4. Meyer 65-15 (.813) Number 5 would be one of these from the "good but not great" pile, with Fulmer being my p...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
