...is that he's spent the last two years essentially being raised by wolves with the bum offensive coaches under Herm Edwards at Arizona State.

It's a little like fostering an abused kid.

He's struggling to trust a system and just put the ball in play because he's used to things not working. There is reason to think that with time he'll come out of that shell.

Hope so. If he does this team can be sneakily dangerous.

I agree.

I think if he comes back next year, then we have a chance to have something close to Burrow. NOT saying it would be the same, but I think it could be really, really good.

Daniels is a special player. He is not a pocket passer and the fanbase needs to stop trying to jam that square peg into a round hole. Embrace what he is good at and hopefully the coaching staff can tailor the game to his abilities a little better moving forward. We can still have a very very good offense if we figure out the best way to implement that.

Stop apologizing for Daniels. Hes beaten out some good players here. Can we beat the Gumps or Georgia with him this year?

Im doubtful, but anybody else in this conference........... bring it.

He clearly doesn't look comfortable but definitely has all the tools to grow

Borrow spoiled us, it is what it is… We see open receivers everywhere and know we would be racking up the scoreboard like a pinball machine, but Borrow ain’t walking in the door. We have who we have, and if the game slows down some, and he improves his vision; he could make us very competitive

This is his 3rd year as a starter. He kind of is who is at this point. People just need to get over the fact he is going to not throw the ball to open receivers and will leave the pocket to soon and take off and run. He will also make a couple plays a game that only he can make because of his extreme athleticism.

Really?

Zak Hill was Daniels' OC in 2020 and 2021.

He's out of work this year. Nobody wanted him.

So no, that's a step down from Denbrock.

Denbeok would like a genius if Daniel’s would throw to our wide open receivers and throw on target. The issue has not been poor play design or poor play calling, it has been the inability of our quarterback(s) to see what is available and deliver the ball to the receivers.

The last two posts sum it up, he plays the way he plays and Denbrock isn’t highlighting his advantages. We dropped him back another 40+ times last night and averaged 5.7 yards per pass play, which would be bottom of the barrel in any conference. We averaged around 8 yards per play on the handful of zone reads we ran last night. Involving JD in the running game and getting him on the move throwing to the sidelines is where he’s best.

But he’s never gonna do that so Denbrock is hammering a square peg in a round hole. Good coaches adjust to the talents of their players. Coaching is almost always overrated, players win games, coaches lose em.

That's my feeling on it. He's the best option available... and it isn't a terrible option at all.

He does not anticipate very well, his field vision/processing is for shite, and he struggles with touch passes on the flanks (which has to change to go forward).

So the offense needs to fit his strenths and mitigate his weaknesses. Run more, with him, the RBs, and WRs. Quit having him pre-read and then read to look for soft spots; the chemistry isn't quite there and he can't process fast enough. I'm not saying change formation or base offensive style really. I am saying the passing game coordination, route trees, and especially the overall offensive strategy needs to fit JD first and foremost and everybody else will have to deal with it.

Dink and dunk, boundary to boundary including the middle of the field is going to have to be the root philosophy and taking pre-planned shots.

Burrow is the reason this board is, me included, the reason all LSU QBs will be viewed as flawed. We will NEVER see another Joe at LSU or probably in College football. Temper your expectations, Jayden is what he is and has played well, if he can get in that film room and realize we have WRs who will get open if he can go through his projections wait just a couple more nano seconds.

Not THE problem but it's A problem. Haven't been impressed in the least bit with Miles-esque run concepts or his antiquated route trees.
