Having his X open more often would change everything

You conspicuously forgot the one he put on the ground by not making the read in time and handed to State in scoring position. Read option should be bread and butter for him along with short throws out of the backfield, but he’s not consistently good at any of them yet. Until he develops consistency with SOMETHING, it’s going to be hard to call plays to his supposed strengths.

All this said, I do credit Denbrock for going back to the zone read later in the game rather than completely abandoning it.

I think if he comes back next year, then we have a chance to have something close to Burrow.
Not even remotely close. Next season we need someone much better throwing downfield.

The issue has not been poor play design or poor play calling, it has been the inability of our quarterback(s) to see what is available and deliver the ball to the receivers.

Hammer meets nail. Spot on.

He’s got two years to get it.

He won’t be here that long even if he could be. He already has a high draft grade just based on athleticism. And if he does hang around, I’m betting Howard beats him out for the job.

That must be some hell of drugs you’re on. Burrow was a once in a lifetime player. Daniels with the right help may - MAY - become a serviceable SEC QB.

I agree, he shows when you put the whole offense on his plate and try to rely on his pre and post snap reads to recognize where pressure is coming from and ask him to process it all to deliver the ball, he struggles. He looks good in hurry up offense because the reads are simple, roll outs can be helpful because it simplifies it also but at the same time totally limits your offense. My observations aren’t to try to justify another QB, he’s the best option, it’s to say if he could somehow correct his deficiencies, this team could pick up a couple more wins.

But cry

It is odd that he’s catching so much grief after we win our SEC opener by 15 when we were a three point dog and his playing a major positive part in that upset win.

It’s like, yeah we won but and he played OK but and this and that. Personally, I’m happy with both the team performance and his performance. I think we all know that both have to get better and I’m just hopeful that they will.

We are going to be waiting for the next Joe Burrow for the rest of our lives. Jaden Daniels ain't it.

Kid is playing hard and he’s made some big boy plays on 3rd down and in clutch situations.

I hope the passing game improves in terms of his reads downfield.

He needs to go be a wr in the NFL. Like enter the 2023 draft.

He looks like a good leader

It would be amazing to see a QB develop at LSU and not bc they had minimum classes online and teach themselves a la Met and Borrow

Quarterbacks are born not made. If he is not throwing the ball downfield after all the games he has played by now he never will.

Maybe conspicuous to you but the point is we’re way above average in one area and bottom 3 in the other even with a large bump from Southern. Vs FSU and State we’re averaging 5.7 yards per pass attempt which is abysmal.

We will NEVER see another Joe at LSU or probably in College football.

Nobody is comparing anyone to Burrow; we just want Daniels to find the open wide receivers which he has failed numerous times each game. Its really just basic QB play.

But he can run.

He's out of work this year. Nobody wanted him.

He had all that ncaa stuff going on. I'm sure he could've found a job.

Do you really think that compressing the field and throwing nothing but short routes is the answer to that? How about we get Daniels to do more of what he did throwing it up to Nabers last night. Find a one on one and let your guy make a play. Our WRs are good enough to beat coverage and get chunks of yards. The threat of hitting a few intermediate and deep shots would open up so much for this offense.

You’re right over the target but if you make teams respect him with a designed running attack using the WRs, the backs and the short passes you’ll bring extra defenders up and get those 1 on 1s giving you a chance to throw those passes to areas he’s more comfortable with instead of having safeties back there funneling those passes to places he isn’t effective.

He is god-awful at throwing the football. He is missing his creative throws by five yards. He can hit a guy who is open 10 yards downfield, but he can’t throw open a WR or throw back shoulder. He can run, though. Dave Aranda would eat him alive.
