To this day I'm pissed at both LSU and Peen st for allowing their players to play on that shite with the high risk on injury. Both should have told bowl organizers to frick off when they showed up to that.

if i'm not mistaken....Miami played there the week before and a player blew out his knee and ended his career because of the field.

Damn. I've never seen the up close pic of the field. Good lord that is bad.

It was absolutely atrocious. And IIRC the big contributing factor was that some genius decided to re-sod the field a few days before the game.

As far as the game went, it is undeniable that the conditions favored Penn State's offense.

However, when it comes to weather conditions, I've always prescribed to the "deal with it" philosophy. LSU fans blaming that loss on the field is like fans of teams with pass-heavy offenses blaming high winds. If your offense can't operate in less-than-ideal conditions, too bad.

to me the wind affected JFF more than the rain. He tried to overthrow the ball when throwing into the wind and floated it when downwind. Either way he was inaccurate and plus the tigers finally got pressure on a QB. Plus lsu could have score 50 easily. On the Auburn game the rain was a factor but if LSU starts second half like the first that would have been a blow out for sure. Hell that second half gave Auburn the confidence that they could compete.

It rained a good bit before the game but not really any during it

The wind affected manziel more than anything.

Did you see the piece of shite field that had two games with major rains during the spans between them played for that bowl game or not? That field was a piece of shite pure and simple.

And penn st had to play in the conditions too. it slowed the game and speed down which lsu had the advantage in.

Did you watch football that year? Penn State had the power run game. LSU had the advantage in speed which was neutralized by that field. But that's not to complain about the outcome of the game. It's a miracle that nobody was seriously injured in that game.

ETA: Sorry brah, misread your wording.

I think that's what he was saying. It was just worded awkwardly.

The rain worked to lsu's benefit just as it worked to penn state's benefit.

In 2009, lsu's offense was based on getting fast players the ball in space where their lateral quickness would allow then to win matchups against slower linebackers. Penn state's offense was a north/south power run game.

In the rain, lateral quickness is slowed a step and cuts become difficult due to a lack of traction. Running north/south with power is easier because defensive lineman have trouble getting traction.

In 2013, lsu's offense relied on a north/south power run game while a&m's relied on lateral quickness. This gave the advantage to lsu based on scheme.

I seem to recall it was the wind that beat aTm in their house in '12, not LSU.

Mother Nature loves LSU.

It was the worst surface I've ever seen a football game played on, peewee to NFL.

And, for the record, I don't personally "blame" it for our loss. It doesn't make it any less atrocious, though.
