Yes, Yes it was.

I remember being thrilled we didn't lose anyone to a knee injury.

I was at the Capital One Bowl when LSU and Penn State played. It was pouring down rain just before the game. During mid-week that day, another Bowl game was played, so the field wasn't invery good shape after the deluge. It was a light rain but started clearing somewhat. Everything was wet and a cold front was moving through. Then the players began their play on a decent-looking field that very shortly turned into a pig slop. During some time-outs and halftime, the ground crew came out and redistributed large divots and chunks of sod to make the field better. The pictures in this thread were what it looked like after they repaired it. The LSU players were slipping a sliding all around--Trindon's cuts were made like he had roller skates on his feet. The worst part of that game, though, was the last couple of minutes--when the referees let the Penn State players get away with delaying the game--then came the personal foul when LSU players were trying to get Penn State players to hurry back to the line. This had all the appearance of a "fixed" game to me--that Joe Pa was getting the benefit of the doubt over Les Miles. I still respected Joe Pa, but those refs were a D-plus grade-wise.

I still wonder why anyone enjoys SVP and Russillo.
They are just awful at what they do.
They are just awful at what they do.

And all that sunshine in College Station in 2012 was the reason we stomped them that time.

That is just fricking absurd!

SVP just blamed the rain for A&M losing to LSU..

if i'm not mistaken....Miami played there the week before and a player blew out his knee and ended his career because of the field.
Not sure about the career ending part, but the injury happened.
Both schools should have taken one look at that and walked. Had we had some kid who decided to come to LSU blow out a knee and potentially end his career because we made him play on that, it would have been a fricking travesty.
I couldn't care less about the outcome of that game...but having to play on that field still makes me livid.

I blame the rain that Van Pelt was conceived.

I have noticed that aTm always has an excuse (weather, so thumb) and can never admit that they were beaten by a better team. Go to texags and read how delusional they are.

Well, I absolutely think he's wrong about A&M losing that game, they got destroyed..

it was the field. and its a legit argument
Um, no. No, it's
Were you there? Did you see the cow pasture of a field in person like many Tiger and Penn State fans did?
That super slop neutralized our speed. Guys could not cut. Penn State was a power team built for poor conditions. In said conditions they beat the Tigers aided by divots the size of Trindon Holiday and a field with no potential for speed. An SEC team renowned for speed could not exhibit that speed. They beat us on that field. They do not beat us that same day in average field quality.

I don't think LSU loses to Penn state on a decent field
but they beat LSU and that was that.

I don't blame the rain for A&M losing. I blame Manziel's injured hand. He missed some throws that he normally doesn't. It was obvious he was hurt.

To be fair, more specifically, we more blamed the field for that one.(Penn State)
A good analogy for those turf conditions would be if you covered a linoleum floor with spread-out bath towels and tried to play on top of them....

Damn. I've never seen the up close pic of the field. Good lord that is bad.
