These details are what exactly?

If im missing something where hes got soreness or more than normal fatigue then sire rest him. But if he's feeling good then let him thriw

I acknowledge that I just think it's significant that people understand he'd still be throwing.

And I think you have a legit point. This is where coaching becomes vital. PM/Dunn should have much more intell than us in regards to how Walker feels. And another point that would support you is that Walker isn't a hard thrower and losing a little velocity wouldn't hurt at all. It may actually help his change some.

It's fricking Texas Southern.

fricking. Texas. Southern.

Most freshman pitchers with this many innings start to hit a "wall". It's not unheard of. Nola got a week rest his freshman year too. Middle of the season. Walker hasn't gotten that.

Throwing a game is different than a bullpen. You know this. I just see no need in resting him. We developed a 3rd starter solely for this time of year. Dont over think it now
Yeah, I'm confused by the mentality. When you have legit 3rd starter, you don't go nuts just because you think FRI is a cakewalk. It's a lot different than if you have 2 starters and worries.

You need to win first 3 games to advance, you pitch your 3 starters. Poche can turnaround faster if we need to fight out of losers, game 2 has to be Lange all the way. You also want to set up for the SR if possible.

Fair point, but Nola was a power pitcher. As you mentioned, Walker is more finesse.

There's no thinking about it. Friday is a cakewalk. It gives you options. I'd save Poche.

Nola was a rare finess pitcher who could throw 95 when he wanted to. The unicorn.

I still think you go

Poche
Lange
Walker

Obviously weather pending. I just don't want to have to rely on Walker in Omaha if he hasn't thrown in a game in almost 3 weeks.

We have 3 legit starters this year so I don't think we need to worry about saving anyone. Also I have faith in Gilbert and Hess if we have to play an extra game

If Gilbert, Bain, Bush, and Reynolds can't take care of a 20-32 SWAC team then they don't deserve a jersey. I don't think Walker is the type of player to let an extended rest get to his head.

The same people saying Poche Friday and Monday were probably the same ones who said in no way can you use Poche twice in a Regional in 2014.

They made a regional.........Petersons claim to fame is hanging in there with a 30 loss NWST team . He ain't ready yet. Let Gilbert shut Texas Southern down, and keep the pen stacked. Peterson is likely to get into problems early, then the pen gets trashed just scrambling to win

Do you know how many losses Texas Southern has?

Keeping the pen stacked is exactly why you don't pitch Gilbert and pitch someone like Peterson or Bain who are lower on the bullpen pecking order.

You use your regular 3 weekend starters. If you feel like Walker is getting tired by the Regional/Super we'll hopefully have enough relief guys to spell him and keep a relatively short leash.

Hopefully he only needs to pitch two more games this year anyway.

Can't speak for others, but I didn't have a problem with it last year or any time before that.

I had no problem last year and I wanted Mainieri to use Poche in 2014. More than half the board said you can't do that in 2014 because Mainieri said so that weekend. Even though Mainieri used a pitcher twice almost every weekend in 07, 08, and part of 09. Suddenly everyone thought we should use Poche twice last season because Mainieri said so.

If it worked it would be great but we did lose enough mid-week games this year to make this a scary proposition. If it works it's great coaching, if it doesn't there will be a lot of bitching. Guess we will find out. It's hard to win the CWS without 3 reliable starters. We have that with Walker.

Well, he is the HC.

Skip used to turn around pitchers all the time. It just depends on the pitcher really.

The weather looks like it's going to interfere with the pitching plans in the worst possible way-- pushing this regional not finishing until Monday at the soonest.
