i wouldnt go that far, they gave JJ plenty of time to throw the ball, if we could have thrown the ball accurately and on time, it would have opened up more running room, pretty hard to block 7 with 5 bc the other team doesnt respect your QB

If you can do one well it seems the other always falls into place. McElroy was no show stopper but Ingram and Richardson hepled make him better.

i agree, i cant stand the people that say, you have to run to setup that pass....No you dont, you just have to be balanced, they both setup each other....granted you play to your strengths, but you cant have one without the other....If we had a QB that could throw more than just 10 yds outs and hitches, maybe the field would have opened up a little for our running game...we couldnt throw the deep ball, hit runners in stride...thats why we hardly had any yards after catches...we recuit these bad arse WR's but give them no room to run!? its because JJ couldnt do it....I hope to GOD ALMIGHTY he's working on that...

It's a chicken and egg sort of thing, but there's no denying that the interior OL was undersized and got no push, even against the crappy teams on the schedule. Plus we never settled on a FB.

ill agree on the chicken and egg thing..and they were undersized...but I could give two shits about a fullback..Florida runs without one..run from the shotgun...quit that I formation bullshite..

Jefferson had a better Qb rating than Russell his Sophomore year, more TD's, Less INT's, and a better Completion PCT, and a longer pass on the season, and only around 300 less yards

I know most of us couldn't stand Jimbo, but after what I saw Crowton do this year, I gotta hand it to him, Jimbo did not run an insane offense with dozens of formations and different players causing mass confusion all the time.

I seriously think if Jefferson played under Fisher, he would be a lot better and wouldn't be nowhere near so heavily criticized.

Crowton and Miles deserve the blame for the lack of offense, not Jefferson. If you ask me, I think Jefferson did a pretty good job considering we had no running game and a weak OL.

We are all rooting for JJ to be successful and we all hope he takes the next step. We also all know he will be the QB next season barring injury.

That being said, he is mediocre. People can debate it and the line wasn't great (esp the C and Gs) but a lot of the sacks are on JJ. Those sacks killed drives. There is not a single D coordinator in the SEC who is concerned about JJ beating them.

So all your little stats based on dinks and dunks are great. But JJ needs to learn how to make a decision quickly and play with controlled aggression. He was awesome v. Auburn (maybe he was sick of hearing how he shat the bed v. Florida). He needs to channel that aggressiveness every game this year.
I for one really hope he works hard this offseason. It would be nice to finally have a real QB and leader on the field for the first time in 3 years.

sad...but true. this post makes all other posts on this subject irrelevant.

Holy shite, quit the over-emotional nonsense. This is a debate about college football. You seem like a real douche.

quote:

He's not the best QB in the world right now but lets see how this season goes before you say he has no potential.

That shite is the definition of a straw man. All I was saying was that his potential isn't anywhere close to Russell's, so the comparison was fallacious. Granted, I wasn't a huge Russell fan till probably the 2nd half of the 2006 season, but Jefferson just doesn't have the same arm strength and naturally quick release that Russell had.

Make no mistake, there are PLENTY in this fanbase who want JJ to fail.

They are the same ones who wanted Russell, Davey, and Tyler to fail.

Hold up, I'm beginning to see a pattern here...

I know JJ taking sacks was a drive killer, but so are false starts, illegal formations, and holding calls.

That was one major improvement I noticed in our bowl game, less pre snap penalties. Hopefully that was the work of BG actually getting our offense prepared. Gary is usually too busy thinking of what brilliant call he was going to make next to actually get our offense ready.

I'm sure JJ will do fine next year. I think we saw how our offense did w/o him against mighty La Tech. and we actually had our running game going against them.

Who in the slap frick wanted Tyler and Davey to fail? Are you fricking kidding me???

People loved Herb Tyler and EVERYONE was begging for Davey to play over Booty...this is seriously one of the dumbest posts I've ever read on here, ever

btw, I'd bet my left nut Jefferson doesn't have half the junior year Jamarcus had. Why? Because he's an average QB with a below average OC and HC around him
