Holy frick, man. Russell had to work on his touch his sophomore year, but he had a lot more of a natural throwing motion and a hell of a lot more arm strength.

I think he's gonna be great next year.

After Russell's 05 season there was debate if he would even start in 06 so don't act like you knew he would end up being a 1st rounder.

That's because of the Peach Bowl, but that's an irrelevant topic anyway. Russell is the most naturally gifted QB in the history of mankind.

Arm strength isn't everything, and Russell has freak arm strength. Just because Jefferson doesn't have a fricking rocket Launcher doesn't mean he doesn't have a strong arm.

So if it was the 05 peach bowl and Jefferson had a better season than Russell did why the hell would you want to bench Jefferson. You understand Russell had been in the same system for 3 years in 05. That makes him what 20 something? Jefferson is two years into a jackasses system and just turned 19. AND HE STILL OUT PERFORMED RUSSELL. STATS DON'T LIE.

It was the biggest factor in Russell's success. Regardless, Jefferson's lack of confidence on getting rid of the ball before a receiver breaks on his route inhibits any arm strength he has.

I never said I wanted to bench him, dickbag, though I would be interested in seeing Garrett get a shot. He's still young though. We're pretty fricked next year.

And he still has another year of developing before he can even be fairly compared to Russell. Just shut the frick up man you're an idiot.

So let me get this straight Jefferson outperformed Russell with:

1 Less year of development
on a team almost 500 less rushing yards
on a team that out rushed by our opponents
With a jack arse OC

Sounds to me like JJ has the potential to be twice the QB JR was.
Does that mean he will? No. But Can he, Yes.

But I'm done arguing with somebody who has reasoning skills. My dog might understand better than you.

I understand where you are coming from, you stupid twat. I just don't think that Jefferson will be anything special. Calm the frick down and accept the fact that someone disagrees.

Russell had better talent around him but more natural ability...that is why I think it is an erroneous comparison.

I'm a huge JJ supporter, but JR's 2006 season was possibly the best ever by a LSU QB and was by far the best in the country.

i dont agree that jj is or will be better than jr, but if he is not starting next year i expect some more coaching changes. I dont think garrett or anyone else we bring in is good enough that they will improve our offense as a first year starter. these guys really are not the same level as mallet, gilbert, barkley, or a matt stafford(started as a sophomore i believe). Neither of those guys were stellar in their first starts.

Russell's biggest advantage over Jefferson is that JR had Jimbo Fisher as his QB coach.
If Jimbo was still the OC/QB coach, JJ would have already corrected the long throwing motion and would already be reading defenses better I think.

Not to metion the fact that JJ was the offense this year cuz we had no line or running game.

I'm annoyed and disappointed at his inability to protect the quarterback.

My problem isn't JJ but it's the scheme or lack there of one.

We tolerated that from Russell because his ceiling wasn't the height of a midgets house.

We are all rooting for JJ to be successful and we all hope he takes the next step. We also all know he will be the QB next season barring injury.

That being said, he is mediocre. People can debate it and the line wasn't great (esp the C and Gs) but a lot of the sacks are on JJ. Those sacks killed drives. There is not a single D coordinator in the SEC who is concerned about JJ beating them.

So all your little stats based on dinks and dunks are great. But JJ needs to learn how to make a decision quickly and play with controlled aggression. He was awesome v. Auburn (maybe he was sick of hearing how he shat the bed v. Florida). He needs to channel that aggressiveness every game this year.
I for one really hope he works hard this offseason. It would be nice to finally have a real QB and leader on the field for the first time in 3 years.

I think they should just run the spread with JJ because he is so slow coming from under center. It would also allow him to see the defense easier before the play and he wouldn't have to worry about burning time dropping back. I think it's mostly JJ just playing in the wrong scheme right now.
