I seriously think if Jefferson played under Fisher, he would be a lot better and wouldn't be nowhere near so heavily criticized.

Make no mistake, there are PLENTY in this fanbase who want JJ to fail.

They are the same ones who wanted Russell, Davey, and Tyler to fail.

Hold up, I'm beginning to see a pattern here...

I'm a huge JJ supporter, but JR's 2006 season was possibly the best ever by a LSU QB and was by far the best in the country.

Yeah, frick, if JJ can have 2/3 the season JR had in 2006 LSU will frick people up.

JPW can throw for not even 10TD passes and BAMA goes undefeated in the regular season.

Can LSU do the same with average play at QB? lets say we have a dominant run game and the defense is slightly better than this past season.

After Russell's 05 season there was debate if he would even start in 06 so don't act like you knew he would end up being a 1st rounder.

Seriously?

He was a projected first round pick from the day he came out of high school. It was said that all it was going to take was one solid season and he would be a top pick based on potential.

This thread is funny...... You would have to be halfway retarded( I like the optimism but no....) to think JJ has anywhere close to the skills JR had at this point in time. JJ is mentally behind. He is scared and could not read a D to save his life. Way too many sacks and not enough prep work.

This can all change after this summer with hard work but to try and compare JJ to JR at this point in time is pointless.

I know, JR was a phenomenal Athletic Talent... God reached down and turned his arm into a freakin lighting bolt...JJ is no where near that...nor will he ever be...That is god given talent...now if he works (which Ive heard from numerous sources that he has horrible work ethic) he could get better...And we all hope that he does...but realist will not believe that he will until he does it and certainly not based on SOMEONE ELSE'S NUMBERS PROJECTION!!

I wasn't replying to your post I just hit reply on it b/c you were the last to post so I wasn't calling you retarded. I tend to agree with most of your post in this thread, so........

What didn't you understand about "at this point in time" in my post. Your post is confusing to me b/c it sounds like you are being defensive to something we both agree on.

To be fair, JR had a guy that coached him up and gave him valuable points but like I said at this point in time.... JJ is not close to what JR was. JR was pretty bad at times but his release, arm strength and talent was ahead of JJ. JR could not read D's that well either but he had a better line that helped out with that. Honestly, to say JJ is comparable to JR RIGHT NOW is not all that smart. JJ is still young at heart and mind, he needs to mature..... I didn't know that was so mind blowing.

For all I know JJ could en up 10x better but right now he is not.

Some people need to look at stuff from an outside POV and not only as an LSU fanatic.

and yet daily threads were started saying that flynn should start over russell.

and i don't think anyone in their right mind thought JR was going to go #1 in the draft until after the ND game.

i don't know how i really feel about Jefferson, i am not comfortable with him yet, but that might have more to do with play calling.

i think we will see big improvement from him next year.

perception. russel played with a better defense against a lower level of talent in the sec. we lost 2 games that year, lost 4 this year.

j lee threw 16 interceptions in his freshman year, lost 5 games, he's the "worst qb" these ranters have ever seen.

Matt Mauck, threw 14 pics as a 5th year senior, but lost only one game with a nc.

all about perception.

Are we really trying to compare JJ to JR?

JR didnt have a brain which is why he was behind Bruce Gradkowksi on the depth chart in Oakland the 2nd half of the season.

Russell is also arguably the best QB ever at LSU

so yea, I agree it's silly to compare Jefferson to him

the ability to run the ball made Russel look better.(defenses had to respect the run), opening up more passes down field.

No, Russell's arm opened up the runnng game. Defenses had to repsect JR's arm, which caused there to be lots more running room.

Defense's dont respect JJ. Thats why they stack the box and dare JJ to beat them. The good teams, he wasnt able to do that against and we lost. They stuff the run and dare us to pass. If we cant, game over.

good thing we're talking about LSU football here.

and yes, we can compare JR and JJ. Russell has a better arm (stronger, a little more accurate) and most importantly IMO, Russell was a confident QB at LSU. he had moxie and believed in himself and his team that they could drive the ball down the field. I don't think JJ is to that point yet.
