Stephen A Smith said he wouldn't lay all the blame for LSU basketball failures on Simmons, He also said Johnny Jones should take a great deal of the blame.

Here's a link to the video of the entire segment.

It's a shame Jones can't do more with a talent like Simmons in my opinion. I think it will be a while before LSU basketball gets another player of his caliber.

Dude misses a shite ton of free throws. And why should he focus on improving? He's going to the NBA soon. One and dones are a double edged sword.

Skip is really on top of this. Every LSU and SEC fan across the country have been saying this all year.

Way to go Skip!

While I agree Bayless can be way off base with his analyses, he was on the Simmons hype train before and seems to have just switched now. It is clear Simmons has some deficiencies in his game that need to be addressed, although I put most of the blame for LSU's loses on Jones and the supporting cast.

I don't get all the Simmons hype. He is a great athletic tall guy. He's not great at the line a D has no outside shot. He doesn't take over (leader) and actually shoes away from being the .an in crunch time.
It's hard to match him up with a pro, because all the ones I think of have solid shots.
And if he goes #1 to a suck ads team, he will look even worse for not improving them.

I think the point guard/forward trash is stupid. Stop being a pussy and get down there and bang with the big guys. Let the guards be guards.

He is a very good player and I AM glad we have him but he is not ready to be the first pick in the draft. 3 or 4 years down the road he will be very goo but not yet needs more time in college

They are both right. Simmons is very much overrated for the hype he gets but also a great deal of blame must go to jones.

Well....I mean, for the kind of hype that he had coming to college, can you disagree? He has no fire, no 'I'm taking this game over and no one can stop me' type of attitude...the best player in college should make the players around him better and I don't see that. Sorry.

I think Simmons being a point-forward is helpful in terms of him being a matchup problem. Guys his size can stick with him on the perimeter and smaller guys can't handle him in the post. I think his main problem is still his jumpshot (or lack thereof). If he could be even just slightly more productive from 15-20 feet he would be nearly impossible to guard at this level.

I agree he's overrated , he is a very good player that can be great in time but how can anyone live up to hype that came with Ben ....

That ridiculous hype aside he is having a great year by ordinary standards , as a freshman to be in the lead for conference player of the year says a lot about what he can achieve ..,.

this is laughable. He has all the tools to be great in the nba. That's all the nba cares about. He needs to get nba coaching as soon as possible.

What good is it being a matchup problem up top if you aren't going to hit that?
