Serious question, not trying to be cute or funny... I have always thought it would be more humane if Mike had a Mrs. Mike in the cage w/ him. I don't know enough about wild animal captivity, the cost of maintaining two versus one tiger, etc. There are probably things I'm not taking into consideration. But it seems to me that having a mate would relieve stress, boredom, which I can understand are logical consequences of being locked up in a habitat, by yourself, regardless of how big or pretty it is. Thoughts?

On the one hand, I love the idea of instead of ending the live mascot program, doubling down as a big FU to PETA. But...
1) Mike is neutered so he wouldn't be able to get down.
2) Tigers are solitary creatures and he probably doesn't want another one anywhere around.

We should simply reply with a copy of the article referenced here and ask them why they are wasting time on an animal that is dying when they could be killing people's perfectly healthy pets.

Mike was born in captivity so he is sterile. How would you like to be sterile and locked in a cage with a porn star? Drive a man or a Tiger crazy lol

Female tiger killed by mating partner at Sacramento Zoo
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A Sumatran female tiger was killed at the Sacramento Zoo by her mating partner Wednesday after the two felines were put in the same enclosure for breeding, zoo officials said.
The male tiger became aggressive with the 15-year-old Baha minutes after a physical introduction, the zoo said in a statement.
Staff monitoring the introduction from outside the enclosure used a water hose and fire extinguishers to separate the animals. Once the male tiger was secured, veterinarians rushed to help Baha, but she had already died, officials said.

Mike has a better life that 99% of America. He receives the best money can buy. I could understand it if he was kept in a tiny cage constantly and was subjected to harsh conditions but that is nowhere near the case with Mike.

Disagree with the last line. PETA should send their people over there unarmed. That way they can live in harmony with the natural tigers and meditate with them. I think they might become extinct fairly quickly and then blame that on unjust humans also.

PETA should be ignored. No response whatsoever should be given to them. Petitions, if they start any, should also be ignored. They have no authority.
