For what it's worth, I spoke to a very close friend who is pretty high up the ladder at LSU earlier today. He knows and deals with decision makers almost every day. I asked him if there was any chance that LSU would cave in to PETA. His response, and I quote,

"frick no, and frick PETA"

How about some incredibly stupid peta quotes?

Pet ownership is an "absolutely abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation."
-Ingrid Newkirk, PETA

Six million Jews died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughter houses.
-Ingrid Newkirk (PETA)
(_Washington_Post_, Nov 13, 1983)

The smallest form of life, even an ant or a clam, is equal to a human being.
-Ingrid Newkirk, PETA

We feel animals have the same rights as a retarded human child.
-Alex Pacheco (PETA)
(_New_York_Times_, Jan 14, 1989)

On leather jackets: That's the next step. You have to take one step at a time. It was easier to start with fur.
-Dan Matthews, Director of Fur Campaign, PETA
(_Detroit_News_, August 13, 1989)

Even if animal tests produced a cure for AIDS, "We'd be against it."
-Ingrid Newkirk, PETA
(_Washington_Post_, May 30, 1989)

"One day we would like an end to pet shops and the breeding of animals.
(Dogs) would pursue their natural lives in the wild...They would have full lives, not waiting at home for someone to come home in the evening and pet
them and then sit there and watch TV."
Ingrid Newkirk - Founder, PETA
"Where Would We Be Without Animals?, Chicago Daily Herald, March 1, 1990

you if you think this is a phenomenon exclusive to liberals... but I digress.

They must be liberals. If they were conservatives, they would be too busy working in their real jobs to have time to "play PETA".

Yet somehow rallies across the country have been packed with supporters for both sides

Don't act like there isn't a trash segment to both parties.

Both sides have become pathetic.

I guess that isn't acceptable in today's Right vs Left world. Big reason nothing ever gets done and our current political state is crap.

Bingo. People can't just isolate an argument and dilineate reasons as to why it is flawed or incorrect. They have to create a boogey man to whom they attribute everything they see as wrong with the world.

PETA is all the way wrong on this one. Why can't people just focus on that rather than trying to start an ideological pissing match?

Honestly I'd be ok with ending the tradition of carting him around before games. VI has only done it once in like the last two years (for the McNeese washout, nonetheless), you miss the drive if you aren't in the stadium half an hour early, and they don't even make him roar anymore.

Instead just have him chill in the habitat and tear up some rubber dummy of the opposition's mascot for the day. Hell that way everyone gets a chance to see him on gamedays, not just those who show up a half hour early.

If PETA and other activists groups successfully stop LSU from getting another Mike (which I hope is not the case), can I live there?

Place looks nice as hell. And I want to be able to say I've lived in a multi million dollar home.

There are lot of really good things PETA does.
But Mike is still better off than this:

His habitat had nothing to do with his illness. These peta idiots are vultures and most have never been around an animal that weighs more than 3lbs.

Does this post mean you think he will end the live mascot program? Because I don't think he will have a single iota of an impact on it and that it will continue uninterrupted long after he no longer darkens the door here. It just isn't going to happen no matter how uninformed you claim I am.

ETA: FTR, I did not downvote your post.

Does yours mean you are the most galatically inept member of Western Civilization with respect to reading comprehension?

FTR: I didn't DV yours either.

Answer the question straight up. Do you predict that the live tiger program ends when Mike VI passes?

I don't have any gypsy aunts. Nor do I have a set of Tarot cards, and the last time I messed with a Ouija Board was grade school. Finally, I'm not a meteorologist nor a Vegas Sports Book tout.

But I will make a prediction: You won't be able to figure out where I stand on this without me spoon feeding it to you out of a can of Gerber using a soft coated safety spoon. Which is really a sad commentary for your intellect Punkin...

I am in favor of no longer having a Mike the Tiger if we are allowed to place Rachel Mathews in the Tiger habitat in Mike's place. I would also request we bring down the glass walls and replace with screens with big hole so we can throw stuff to her to eat like big piles of horse and cow shite
