I’d rather see them spend a few million and renovate the Cow Palace for the temporary court.

Crime is going up and policing headed down,
And you’ll only get mugged if you go downtown.

Isn't that one of the reasons Kim left Baylor, because she was pissed that they built their new arena off campus? That won't happen.

I'm not good at embedding images, but the Cow Pasture Lot, Olympic Lot, or by the Louisiana Animal Disease Lab seem to be great spots for this. I wouldn't be opposed to the Corner of S Stadium and Nicholson in that lot either.

I don't think this is for LSU basketball. I think this is a multiuse arena like the Cane's River Center. I think this is completely separate from LSU basketball. Could be wrong.

Why do people assume the arena will be built in the city.
I read the same article and didn`t come to that conclusion.
I just think people want something to be mad about.

Problem is that LSU has never had the wherewithal to look at the long term pictures when it comes to renovations and building new athletics facilities.

Build a new track and field center past the Box on Gourrier.

Build a brand new PMAC on the corner property of N Stadium and Nicholson. Build it in such fashion that it can attract concerts and other revenue generating events throughout the year. (Think the new Texas arena).

In the location of the existing PMAC, I would create a new Athletics admin center.

I’ve been saying for a few months now that this was happening.

LSU bought & cleared out that land on Nicholson for a future arena. Swimming and T&F will be moved down near Alex Box. I would imagine this new arena will be used to house the PMAC sports while the PMAC is being renovated/rebuilt. And then eventually once that is complete, the new arena will house gymnastics & volleyball (I would assume).

I met Beshara at the LSU vs Vandy Football game in Nashville back in '19. He was surprised that someone recognized him. Nice dude.

If you are a building a new PMAC basically where Bernie Moore is, the existing PMAC area needs to be more than an office building. A mixed use hotel/entertainment district connecting both Tiger Stadium and the new arena along Nicholson could be awesome if done correctly. Close North Stadium to vehicle traffic and make the entire area a park like setting with a pedestrian bridge over Nicholson to tie it in with the recent development there.

The university has a great opportunity here to reshape that area for the next 50 years. They will likely frick it up as usual.

Where on earth would it even be able to be built downtown? LSU’s campus is the only possibility

Not sure if serious:
quote:

"6. 24-00227 An ordinance acknowledging and recognizing the benefits of the proposed Tiger Athletic Foundation Project to build an LSU Arena, and thereby restricting certain uses by City-Parish owned buildings, including the Raising Cane’s River Center, and authorizing the Mayor-President to identify one or more strategies for developing additional convention capacity and soliciting a developer to develop a convention hotel. By Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, Councilwoman Carolyn R. Coleman, Councilwoman Jen Racca, Councilman Dwight Hudson, Councilman Cleve Dunn, Jr., Councilman Rowdy Gaudet, and Councilman Aaron Moak.
Introduce for public hearing/meeting on March 13, 2024"

Scott and others recently visited UT’s new facility in Austin. I don’t think they’re planning to go small here, imo.

Where does Mike go? No way they can keep him there while the stadium is demolished / built.

It says in the agenda that its directly related to the proposal of building a LSU arena and they want to restrict the use of the River Center(for obvious purposes)

If LSU built an arena that looks like Moody I will piss my fricking pants

I trust Scott to pull this off. The school is dying for a massive facility project. feels like it’s been years since we’ve pulled anything off

Maybe this would be very good for downtown BR. Could be used for all kinds of stuff.
