And it's not fair to Malzahn to talk about Auburn's records before he was the head coach.

While I agree, there are other posters who will manipulate stats to discredit Miles. Those same posters would tell you that Malzhan should be given credit for both of Auburn's NCs.

I haven't seen anyone say that, but to clarify my last post -- obviously, it's fair to talk about previous records in the sense of contextualizing numbers, but if people are comparing just records during certain time frames, it's not fair to Malzahn to include the records before he was the head coach (I'm sure you knew what I meant, but I wanted to clarify so that someone else didn't misconstrue what I was saying).

I get you. Malzhan is just a poor example,IMO. Despite a better winning % and a NC, he doesn't have lare enough of a sample size to justify being better than Les.

In honesty, I'm kinda shocked he (Gus) lost 4 games. Also got the benefit of the Treadwill fumble and having two jerseys with the same # going unnoticed by the zebras.

Then of course there's the Prayer at Jordan-Hare and the Kick Six.

There's still much to be written about Malzhan.

You can pick apart anyone's season like that. There were a few close LSU Wins this season that easily could've gone the other way.

Still much to be written, but I'd take Malzahn over Miles without hesitation.

By the way, when you say that Miles has the second-best conference record -- who are you saying is first?

Saban, obviously.

I'd like to see Malzhan field a halfway decent defense before saying that.

Okay, I thought you might've been talking about Bill Arnsparger, who had a better conference record (but only coached 3 years).

Good point. Related to that, I actually prefer an offense that's somewhat of a blend of the styles of LSU and Auburn. Malzahn might be able to maintain the offensive pace and improve the D with better depth and rotation.
