I have lost any focus on work. So sad and I feel so bad for him. Cannot stop thinking about this and looking at photos of Mike from baby to adult. One of the greatest Mikes ever. He didn't like the games but that's ok. He was so sociable in his habitat. Beautiful Tiger. I know the staff will keep him comfortable.

I hope he is honored in the stadium Saturday night.

Has anyone seen him this weekend and know what happened that they had to move him to hospice so fast?

I'm going with "late stage terminal cancer", but I'm not a vet.

This was Rosco and my daughter at the 2014 vet school open house. I told her the story of how we got him and that his original name was Rosco. When she walked up to his trailer there were a ton of people at the rear because that's where he was facing. We went around to the opposite side so she could get closer to the trailer to see him.
She started calling out "Rasco" and he turned his head, looked at her, stood up and stretched, turned 180* and layed down right in front of her. She was so exited!!! It was a great moment for her and I. She is pretty broke up about his empending passing. At least we have this wonderful picture of them.
We had it blown up and turned in to a10x12 portrait that hangs in the living room.

RIP Mike!!!!! You will always be in our memories.

My wife and I rode our bikes out Friday morning to see him. He was laying in the shade and keep swiping at his face with his paw. You could see that he lost a lot of weight and I felt that would be the last time we saw him. Sorry my grandkids (and kids) won't be able to see him one last time this weekend. He was a magnificent animal.

Thanks Captain Obvious. I was looking for a change in behavior that was noticable. Was it someting visible or could the vets tell he was getting wors fast and was in pain.

This is heartbreaking. Seems like things are moving fast. I wonder if these stages are more for us than for him. Fully expect him to be gone in a day or so. They won't let him suffer. He will be missed, that's for sure. Such a beautiful animal. There will be a hollow feeling for awhile.

I'm having a hard time with this. I'm crushed. There will never be another Mike like this Mike. So many things about him were unique.

Oh no.

This breaks my heart. I am on the verge of tears knowing that he'll be with my dad.

Life can be so unfair.

In a thread yesterday, several people posted they had seen him on Saturday and he didn't look good...apparently his eyes were watering and his nose was running. I know it was stated last week that the tumor was growing again and pressing on his sinus. Apparently, it is a very aggressive form of cancer, so the disease process seems to be happening very quickly. So heartbreaking.

Tigers need to go out and fight like Mike has for the rest of the season. Keep Mike in your hearts and fight like hell. Mike VI Forever.
