re: Butter beans versus Lima beans - mardigrarita
I believe Willie Mae's Scotch House has "butter beans" that are what we always called large white lima beans...they were good with a subtle seasoning flavor that I couldn't quite identify...I wondered at the time if it might be file'... Our butterbeans were always gray/brown, not green or white. ...

re: What to do in NYC for 1 day? - mardigrarita
Eat at The Grand Central Oyster Bar and walk The High Line
I think the oyster bar is closed on Saturdays. Also, I'd suggest the Highline if on a trip of several days, but wouldn't do it if I only had one day in NYC. Have a fun time!...

re: Crawfish Boil Stew - mardigrarita
Sure! Its liquid was the consistency of a gumbo or thick stew and was peanut-butter colored...it had peeled crawfish tails, chunks of new potatoes and small pieces of corn on the cobb, and sliced green onions tops. I took a picture of it, but am not sure how to upload it to this thread...perhaps...

Crawfish Boil Stew - mardigrarita
Hello...I love this board, so I'm coming straight to it for help... I was in New Orleans this weekend and had brunch at EAT in the FQ...I had their Crawfish Boil Stew and entered a state of Nirvana. I'd like to cook this for the first weekend of football. Do any of you have a recipe or a concep...

re: 107 murders in NOLA so far, but we're talking about confederate statues - mardigrarita
This is classic "don't look at the real problem, what about that squirrel in the tree up there????" I live in Shreveport, and absolutely LOVE New Orleans, but it makes me sick that NOLA will never have a mayor again who does anything but pander to that part of the electorate who doesn't realize t...
Do you think the David Toms practice facility is contributing to the number of Shreveport guys that are ranked in the top of the junionr/amateur rankings, or is it just a weird coincidence?
It can't be...according to most of the a=holes on this site, nothing good ever comes out of ...
Hopefully this time the city wakes up and passes the 1.25% hotel tax which will help upgrade facilities. Last time is was up for a vote, people saw "tax" and blindly voted against it even though it was only an additional tax on hotel guests. Not citizens of the city.
The "low inf...

re: Many Thanks to the Food and Drink Board - mardigrarita
TigahRag, what's your problem? I enjoyed his weekly rewind...don't understand why you would have such a strong negative reaction to it/him. Attitudes like yours seem to be what's making our society so cold and callous now...why the vitriol? If you don't like him, don't read him, but I don't s...
