For those who were here for other Mikes, what happened after they passed? A vigil? Anything of that sort?

Should be a moment of silence while his empty trailer (sans cheerleaders) makes a lap around the stadium.

Dang it I won't be at the game this weekend ... Momma duty supersedes football. My husband better record whatever they do.

I honestly can't recall anything specific; however, he passed away on graduation day (or the night before) so everyone was already involved in that and campus was pretty much empty within a couple of days.

As I remember (could be wrong) but he wasn't that sick for a long time beforehand and it was kind of unexpected for the most part.

When I read this earlier it really bummed me out. I had planned on walking over to his cage today during lunch...

This absolutely needs to happen. At least park it next to the visitors entrance or something. Maybe allow flowers to be placed inside.

I gotta say, I always felt this was my Mike and I don't think another will ever feel the same to me. I did the majority of my undergrad work with him as the mascot. I was pretty much a drunk/shitty student for the first couple of years under the old Mike. But after this guy arrived is when I got my act together and really started college.

This was the Mike who came to LSU shortly before I lost my father. So, as cheesy as it may seem, I feel like losing Mike is losing another connection to the past and to dad.

I want to go see his habit and pay my respects during his final days/hours with us, but I don't want to breakdown and start sobbing like a little girl (I doubt anyone else wants to see a grown man balling either).

I will miss you Mike. It just won't be the same without you.

He's like the LSU community's pet (yes... even those of us who got our college degrees elsewhere but are still LSU Fighting Tiger fans... though I am grateful that I now work inside the LSU system)

and we all know the pain of losing a pet... they are our family... and we definitely mourn losing them as such

and then the day will come where Mike VII will be revealed, and while this hurt will still last and we will never forget Roscoe... the new Mike will take the mantle and rule his days
