Every summer when it is a thousand degrees outside with 100% humidity, I always ask "why do I live here, again???" The first post pretty much explains it.....

Great post - I was born and raised in Louisiana, EE from LSU a hundred years ago - I now live in Texas because there is not a job for me in Louisiana - breaks my heart. I wonder how many others love LSU and are forced to live elsewhere because of the lack of professional jobs in the state. Like I said - it breaks my heart.

I really enjoyed your post, LSUTigerBait. Well done. I have enjoyed both Louisiana and Texas.

I would like to repost my comments from the "It's Father's Day in Ohama, and elsewhere" thread by Carl Dubois on 6/21:

"Wow - Carl - Awesome article. One of your best, and I've read many of your articles through the years. You have been blessed with an innate ability to touch people on many levels: factual, controversial, intellectual and (of course) emotional.

After we win this CWS, this will be our 6th baseball National Championship (will tie us with Texas for 2nd place overall). Then we'll win our 3rd BCS football National Championship in the last 7 years. This is my fervent hope.

Father's Day is all about dreaming!!!!

Carl - thanks again for your appropo "spot on" article."

I'll always follow everything LSU does - it never ends, thank goodness.

Great post!!! I hope you don't mind but I used it too on ESPN boards. People moaning about N.O. being a dump. I can't stand that, generalizing the whole city from one experience. Some people just don't have a clue.

Cali 4 LSU: If you don't mind, could you post a link to where you posted it on the ESPN board? Thanks!

Wow! Great post and thank you for putting into words what so many of us feel.
I am very fortunate to be active in a large LSU alumni chapter. It helps for those of us so far away from "home." People not from Louisiana have commented to me, after attending one of our events and meeting othe LSU fans and alums that they are truly impressed by the deep loyalty and friendships we have with one another and how we all "light up" when talking about LSU.

I've been away from Louisiana since 1972, first in Dallas and for the past 31 years in Atlanta. Since graduating in 1968 I have been for most of that time a distant "fair weather" observer, not much of a fan.

Things began to change when Skip Bertram turned the baseball program around. Then came Nick Saban. It was the coincidence of Katrina and Les Miles that got my real attention. Now we can add Paul Mainieri and Trent Johnson. Let's throw in the alumni who stepped in with the dollars to put LSU in the Top 100.

At the Notre Dame game Les Miles shouted to the crowd "We did for the great state of Louisiana and the people who love LSU." Mainieri said the same thing. It all proves one thing, LSU is a world-class act - in every aspect. It's not a game, it's not a pastime, it's who we are. And I am proud, deeply proud to call Louisiana home and LSU my school.

And let me add something no one has mentioned. As tragic as Katrina was for New Orleans and the state, Atlanta became a better city with its Louisiana transplants. More courage. More soul. More fun. Better food. What was once the laughing stock state in the nation, is now recognized as one helluva group of people!

Nice piece.

It may be that way no matter where he would coach, but it sure seems like Coach Manieri cares about his players and loves LSU.

If you read the above article you would realize that no one would really disagree with you. It's just that us here in Louisiana prefer our shite-hole to the egotistical likes of Texas. Here's a little something to help you understand.

If the University of Texas disappeared tomorrow:
50,000 kids would have to find a new school, but most of the states populations wouldn't care and would more than likely

On the other hand, if LSU was to disappear tomorrow: It would change the landscape of Louisiana as a whole. LSU drives Louisiana, and no one wants to be in the passenger seat when the Tiger train flies off its rails.
