Secondly, Urban Meyer would like me to pass along to you that he deserves to be in that conversation as well.

have you just not listened to what i posted? on the very lat page i posted:

if Saban had never come back to college, we'd be comparing Les to Urban Meyer, who has done better than every coach not named Saban, since Les has been at LSU. this means that yes, Urban Meyer has also done better than Les

Saban is #1
Meyer is #2

build LSU

Saban didn't build LSU, clown! LSU had national and SEC titles before Saban. LSU had great college and NFL talent on its teams before Saban showed up.

What Saban did was take the talent he found at LSU, add to it, and win a national championship. Exactly what Les did, but Les had to do it at a time when the SEC owned college football. There has been NO three loss west champions in the time Les has been here as there was under Saban.

Les had more top ten teams in five years than Saban, more back to back ten win seasons, a better OOC record, and a better winning percentage.

You have to be mentally impaired to think Saban had a better record at LSU than Les.

our last title was almost 50 years prior to Saban's

he didn't have better W/L but started at a much inferior position. Miles' apex success was also with the talent Saban recruited and his OC developed

how many yards?

Bout 2200. And your point? Tell me you don't get "horror" based on one stat line.

No one, that I know of, has ever said LSU had great or outstanding QB play in 2011. But it damn sure wasn't anything close to being a "horror".

quote:

did you watch teh SEC title game and national title game?

I watched all 13 wins and 1 L leading to that 13-1 record and #2 NR. It sucked that we got out coached and out played. shite happens, but our QB play that season wasn't a "horror".

I thank Nick for all his efforts while he was here, but he's been gone 10 yrs and if you think a coach gone from 12/04 had anything to do with the QB play at LSU during the most successful 3 yr. period in LSU history, 05-07, you are seriously mistaken. imo

but that's because of our failures in talent identification, recruiting talent, and developing the talent we got on campus

fricking idiot. Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Jeremy Hill, and Trai Turner were such huge misses that they decided to forego their final seasons of eligibility and get drafted into the NFL.

LSU lost 17 players early to the NFL in the 2013-14 drafts. Despite what you're willing to accept, there is such a thing as scholarship restrictions in the NCAA, and losing that much of your roster is debilitating to any program.

quote:

yeah it's called a talent base. saban had to build one and les go to ride on saban's talent levels after his hire

This is such crap. Saban walked into a loaded roster in '00... what was missing from the seasons prior was coaching. Lou goddamn Tepper would have that team fighting with both hands tied and blindfolded. It's not a surprise that with proper coaching, the improvement on the team was immediate.

quote:

build LSU from the doldroms into a national program and a powerhouse football team is one thing Les has not done

Again, not true... because Saban decided he didn't want to recruit his last season here, Les was left with a goddamn mess when it came to depth on the team he inherited... the OL was particularly shameful. From '08-'09, an inexperienced roster crushed us to the tune of 17-9, but Les was able to build that up in the next two years to a 24-3 record, SEC Championship, NC appearance, and likely would have had two more had it not been for a Cam Newton beastquake.

quote:

he clearly had a better overall season when rushing is taken into account. passing is a debate

Nothing about it is debatable. Mettenberger was FAR superior to Sims.

2014 Sims: 252/391 3487 28 10
2013 Mett: 192/296 3082 22 8

That's a difference of...
60/95 405 yards 6 Touchdowns 2 Interceptions

The difference in stats results in a QB Rating of 115.6... for reference Anthony Jennings had a QB Rating of 118.3 for the 2014 season.. which basically means that you claim Sims put up better stats because he threw the ball 100 times more than Mett did.

Even if you want to include rushing statistics...
2014 Sims: 83 car. 350 yards 7 TD 3 FUM
2013 Mett: 34 car. (-)133 yards 2 FUM

So... to summarize:
In 2014, Blake Sims touched the ball 144 more times than Mettenberger for 888 yards, for an average of 6.16 yards per play... Mett averaged 8.94 yards each time he touched the ball (rushing and passing). So even including rushing statistics, Sims STILL doesn't compare to Mett.

Yea because all that "success" really worked out so well for us on 1/9 right? Hmmmmmmm.
The way that whole situation was handled by Miles defies logic. You wanna defend it, go right ahead.

OMG you are stupid............. This is not even close to the truth...... So Miles got here in 2005 and you are blaming Saban for LSU'S pisspoor record in 2008-2009????? You are a true dipshit.......

Really? You want to go there?

LSU QBs in 2010:

57% comp....6.7yds/att...10TDS...11 ints....rat=118

LSU QBs in 2011:

62% completion....7.7 yds/app...21 TDs...5 ints...RAT...148

Seems like things were handled pretty good based off what we had seen the yr. before.

If you can only measure 2011 based off the BCSCG, knock your self out, but that is really what "defies logic".

Wasn't there only 13 commitments awarded in Miles first year (before the 2005 season)

If that is the case, saban didn't do much recruiting wise for LSU his last season here. So it's hard to imagine LSU being loaded for Miles first year.

And there are a ton of people who continue to claim that Miles won a national title with sabans players three years after nicky bolted out of town.

dukke v, in my book, you are the true dipshit....

Saban didn't make LSU like many want to believe. LSU DECIDED it wanted to be a top flight football school and dumped a ton of money into the program. Part of that was getting Satan but an even more important part was getting the facilities and proving to the recruits that LSU wasn't going to celebrate finishing in the very very bottom of the top 20 like it had been doing for decades.

LSU made a financial decision about the football program and it benefited Saban tremendously. Now all the schools are putting in facilities to match or beat out their rivals and now the SEC is stacked from top to bottom like never before.

That is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
