RPI is Div III in football. Besides I grew up in New Orleans a Tiger fan.

I've never had any conflict. If Cornell ever gets around to regularly beating Harvard or Penn, and some expedition game is scheduled with LSU, I'll be the first to tigerbait a fellow Cornellian after we stomp the hit out of them on Schoellkopf Field.

It took a whole year for them to convince you to go?

You picked a great game to go to. I was a student at the time hard up for cash. I'm ashamed to admit it but I sold my ticket for $40. That was actually a pretty good amount back then as the tickets were only $8 at the time.

I went to LSU but failed to understand that playing poker and smoking cigars, drinking beer didn't constitute the whole of being a student. I finished elsewhere.

It's not a dilemma...it's the right thing to do.

Same basket. Grew up a huge LSU fan, but I came to the old ULL because I felt like they had a better program in what I was attending school for (since that, of course, should be a primary factor in any person's school choice outside of a college athlete). I get shite for supporting ULL from LSU fans, and I get shite for supporting LSU from ULL fans. I knew that was my fate when I made my decision anyway. No matter what, though, I'm a massive fan of both.

I was born and raised in BR so I've been a Tiger fan since birth. Played baseball at another in state school (this was my best option for playing time) so I did not attend LSU. Pulled for LSU except when I played against them. Still a football season ticket holder even though I don't use them. I sell them to a friend every year. I have been and always will be a Tiger fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dad is 75 and a Southern Miss grad. You will not find a bigger LSU fan. The only time you don't see him with an LSU hat on is when he is dressed for church, a wedding or a funeral. Moved to BR in 72 and watched the Tigers beat Notre Dame in TS. He has been a fan ever sense.

When I started college is was at LSUNO - which evolved over time to become UNO. My BA diploma proudly sports the LSU seal; my blood runs purple and gold.

That's funny; I was born in Morgan City, and lived in Thibodaux and Houma for many years before my parents moved to NC. I went to Elon also, then UNCW for grad school.

To the OP- I got into LSU, but my parents wouldn't pay the out of state tuition or plane fare, which is funny in hindsight considering what private schools cost. Regardless, I was born a Tiger and a Saint, and they will always come first.

I was born and raised in BR and the large majority of my family are LSU alums. I grew up going to LSU games. However, I had to get the hell out of BR so I went to La Tech. I went to 2 LSU games last year, and attended 3 Tech games in my 5 year career there

The better question would of been, do you ever have conflicting interest when LSU plays the school you attend.

Absolutely not. I attended both Tulane and ULL, and you'll be hard-pressed to find two schools that have such a vitriolic hate for LSU. Tulane gave me a free ride at 18 years old for my first degree and ULL was the best value I could get at 21 for my second degree. Bleeding purple and gold, though, was from birth.

I rarely went to either of those schools' home games because that would mean not being able to watch or listen to the LSU game. It's fun when LSU plays either ULL or Tulane, though, because I have never had any problem rooting against the schools I attended and tigerbaiting the people that I went to school with.

I almost feel bad when Tulane comes to town, though, because my Tulane buddy usually gets Stadium Club tickets and lets me go even though I constantly make fun of his cute green shirt.

Almost.

Was it hard to not support the school you attended? I understand people who go to olol or brcc, schools that do not ever play lsu, that can support both schools. I would think if I attended a different school, I would have to support the school I attended. Just curious as to how you can go to another university and not support that school.

I support both Mississippi State and LSU. I don't attend the LSU/State games in Tiger Stadium, and I'm not going to Starkville this year. I don't pull for either one, but deep down inside I'm pulling for State. The only thing that sucks about that particular scenario at the moment is I know LSU has a better chance at the national championship in every sport except basketball.

Many fans of LSU are fans because it is the state's only flagship university. It is the only major D-1 football university in the state. It is Louisiana pride. Attending LSU has nothing to do with it. State tax dollars support LSU and thus it becomes "our" university.

LSU would be in big trouble if only those who attended it were fans. Probably 90+% of its fans never attended the university. But they all love the Tigers.
