I support ULL... but, I've always been a Tiger fan.

I used to get a lot of sh!t for wearing my LSU hat no campus. I'd just tell people to stop hatin

My wife went to SELU. It was not hard at all for her to ignore all Lion athletics completely unless of course they played LSU. Then she cheered for LSU.

I don't think it is a big deal. Most of my friends went to other schools (Southeastern, Navy, ULL, Nicholls, Northwestern, Tulane, Rice, Va Tech, etc) and still are huge LSU fans.

I get that a lot. Can't speak for everyone else, but here's my story...

Grew up in BR; Mom worked at LSU; watched Maravich at the Cow Palace; sold peanuts/boy scout usher in Tiger Stadium; watched them build PMAC.

After HS (Woodlawn), went to LSU but I wasn't "academically motivated". Dropped out. Joined Marines, served in California. Completed college at National University (San Diego).

National doesn't have athletics, but even if I had gone to UC Irvine or Cal St Fullerton, I don't think it would be possible to change my stripes.

Do I get credit for my wife and daughter being graduates?

I went to Seminary in Oklahoma and although I like the Eagles...we only had basketball.

I am from Louisiana and LSU is the State University, LSU is Division 1 football and LSU has a great football atmosphere. Also my dad played so it is in my blood.

Sometimes, I think about what it would have been like to attend LSU but that was not the direction of my life.

I am attending NSU right now and will cheer for LSU this weekend. I have always been an LSU fan so that is who I cheer for.

Was it hard to not support the school you attended?
I understand people who go to olol or brcc, schools that do not ever play lsu, that can support both schools. I would think if I attended a different school, I would have to support the school I attended. Just curious as to how you can go to another university and not support that school.

Hell fricking no. I was born and raised an LSU fan--right in Baton Rouge. I love my Alma Mater as an institution, and I support them in Lacrosse, wrestling, and fricking polo.

I've never had any conflict. If Cornell ever gets around to regularly beating Harvard or Penn, and some expedition game is scheduled with LSU, I'll be the first to tigerbait a fellow Cornellian after we stomp the hit out of them on Schoellkopf Field.

It seems that most people separate athletics and academics.

Lol my father was a "guy from florida who graduated from LSU" circa 1969. Had some connections to the school before, but he didn't grow up in louisiana or as a Tiger fan. He met my mom at LSU.

I spent part of my you in Louisiana but grew up a LSU fan no matter where I was. I attended LSU for a year but life took me to another school to finish.

There are few bigger Tiger fans that you'll ever meet than my dad and I.

When laundry is done in either of our households there are three loads- whites, darks and purples.

I personally think its the ones who "don't understand how someone that didn't go to a school could be as big a fan" that don't really get it.

Way more LSU fans out there who didn't graduate from LSU compared to the ones that actually did graduate from LSU. It's easy to support LSU more than the school you graduated from especially when you graduate from another in state school that believes they are better than LSU in every aspect and always have excuses why they are not the state school. Just listening to some fans of other in state schools makes me a bigger Tiger fan.

Isn't the bigger question ... why do some lsu grads think only lsu grads have a right to be lsu fans ?

I went to Loyola. Sure I support them, but they are NAIA.

I actually went to LSU(Bars) every Thursday night for 4 years, so I feel I might as well be an alum.

I was born in BR. My mom and her 3 sisters went to LSU. I've just been raised in purple and gold. I go to UCF too, FWIW (and I root for them every year, even though they play retarded C-USA teams).
