1/9 scarred y'all that much?

2 undefeated teams from a BCS conference are in. No questions asked. Lsu could beat alabama 77-0 and they would not get in over an undefeated notre dame and undefeated oregon. "Two best teams" comes into play when you're looking at teams with one loss, ie oklahoma state and alabama. A one loss team has no argument against a team that played a BCS schedule and went undefeated. If it did, you would have seen tebow led 1 loss florida in a rematch with alabama in 2009 instead of undefeated, barely won on a controversial call in the big 12 championship texas. I know it's fun to say the media will put alabama in at any costs, but you're being dense.

The only undefeated team from a BCS league that has ever been left out was auburn, and that's because they finished behind the undefeated preseason number 1 and undefeated preseason number 2. You're pissing in the wind if you think a 1 loss SEC champion is going to jump an undefeated oregon or notre dame

Two Words:

Quality Loss

Bama jumps OU.

ESPN would cream itself for a Bama vs ND game.

Sorry Oregon.

Right now Oregon, Notre Dame, and Kansas State are all undefeated and ahead of LSU. If at least 2 of those 3 win out, they will play in the title game.

Your analysis is well-measured, but it depends on the combination, doesn't it? You're probably right if it is Oregon and Notre Dame. I'm not 100% sure a K-State team gets in.

And, it should be noted that 1-loss SEC team, who finished 2nd in the division (and, from a realistic standpoint, 3rd in the conference) went ahead of a of 1-loss BCS conference champion. In my mind, that's an equivalent jump, based on the reputation of the conference.

Basically, I believe that a 1-loss SEC Champ will not be left out of the big game, unless it is a combination of undefeated teams that have the media in a tizzy (USCw, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas would be some non-SEC media darling examples).

To be fair, our media darling (Alabama) would also go over a number of more deserving teams, as they have already proven.

(To be fair, we also benefited from the overall regard of the conference in 2007, although we are definitely not a 'media darling'.)

I am more concerned about LSU not losing again than the others losing one. We have enough to worry about, the rest will work itself out!

Look, this discussion is just for fun, so how 'bout this scenario?

We beat #1 Bama by a field goal, and then win out in the West.
Then, we edge #1 Fla in overtime in the SECCG.

LSU finishes 12-1, SEC Champs, with only the road loss to FL in the Swamp.
Fla finishes 12-1, with only an overtime loss to LSU in the SECCG.
Bama finishes 11-1, with only a tough road loss to LSU in BR.
OR finishes 11-1 and PAC-12 Champs.
K-State and ND stay undefeated, finish 11-0, but don't play conference championship games.

What is your final top-6, if you are a Harris or Coaches pollster?

Mine would be:

1 - LSU, 12-1 (SEC Champs, undefeated, except to #2)
2 - FLA, 12-1 (undefeated, except OT loss to #1 in SECCG)
3 - ND, 12-0 (undefeated, no Champ game)
4 - K-St, 12-0 (undefeated, no Champ game)
5 - OR, 12-1 (Pac-12 Champs)
6 - Bama, 11-1 (undefeated, except to #1 on road, no Champ game)

If LSU beats A&M and then Bama, LSU will have already jumped Notre Dame by 11/3, then we play MSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas and the SEC championship game maybe against #1. Yeah we would jump in front of ND, especially if, as in your example, we beat Bama 77-0.

Drop K State below Bama as well.

That's not the debate. I don't think they will go undefeated. My stance was that if they do happen to go undefeated, and oregon also goes undefeated, they would go over a one loss sec champion

The Big-12 and ND do not have a conference championship. Does that change anything, in your opinion? Also, what if Rutgers goes undefeated, a SEC team has one loss, and Oregon goes undefeated....by your logic, does RUTGERS get in over the SEC Champ?

Talk to me when/if KSU beats WV.
Also, ND has @ Oklahoma and USC.
Oregon has Stanford, at Oregon St., and @USC(twice, if they get that far).

As you said, you don't see KSU going undefeated, and ND and Oregon have a much tougher road to go.

LSU has no chance at playing for the title over an undefeated ND, UO, or KSU. If USC is as good as ESPN has told us they are, the Trojans should win one of their 3 against the Ducks and Irish. Not that it matters, since I'm far from convinced that LSU will run the table without putting together a complete game at some point. Redzone offense really needs work.

Here is how you're wrong.

If LSU wins out...We will have beaten Bama, and SC/FL in the SEC championship. That will be enough to boost us ahead in the polls. If we play Florida would will then be ranked #1....that will be most def enough to jump us to 1 or 2.

ETA: also...ND does not have a conference championship game...experts are already saying that this almost def rules them out of the NCG

I doubt Oregon, K state or Notre Dame have the depth to go undefeated

K State plays W Virginia, texas tech, and baylor

Notre Dame still plays Oklahoma & USC

Oregon still has to play USC, Oregon State, Arizona State, and Stanford

all of these are upset-plausable IMO

i mean our schedule doesn't really look any better however if we take care of business then we can get there. i'm not getting ahead of myself though.. ONE GAME AT A TIME TIGERS!!!!

You are an idiot. A one loss LSU will jump any of those undefeated teams.
