The SEC is stronger this year than any recent memory. A team with one loss that wins out will have their position ready for the NC. 6 years of dominance in the NC also plays into SEC's favor. This isn't the same. Everybody knows the SEC is good but this year is ridiculous. You have four teams who you could call legit national powers. And then you have teams like TAMU and MSU who are doing good...
LSU
TAMU
Bama
MSU
Georgia
USCe
Florida
All good teams and at least three can be considered powerhouses. Name another conference that comes close to that?

quote:No. This is he standard when bama didn't win their way. That doesn't work for anyone else but maybe USC or nd. Maybe OU.
The standard is "the two best teams". I think we would jump Oregon.

LSU does not technically control their own destiny
If:
LSU wins out (besides the rest of the schedule, this includes beating #1 BCS Bama and the SECCG - #2 BCS UF (or back up to #5 BCS USCe).
Oregon, ND and KSU go undefeated, KSU is left out. In fact KSU is going to need a lot of help even with (2) one loss teams.
This scenario leaves OU, ND and LSU. 0,0,1. Think about this in your head.

We must remember, the BCS formula decides who goes, not some committee.
If we win out in the West, we will beat #1 and two other ranked teams on our way.
Then, we will play either #1 Fla or at least a top-5 east team in the SECCG.
If we win that game, nobody will have our resume in the back half of the season.
Both human polls will then almost certainly rank us #1, and our computers will prolly keep us there or at #2 at worst.
It is all about our final BCS tally, and the quality of our competition gives us a big edge over the contenders from other conferences.
I think it is nearly impossible for an undefeated K-St or ND to best a 1-loss LSU, with the incredibly strong finish we would need, to finish with just our 1 loss in the Swamp.
In fact, it would not be impossible for a 1-loss Bama or Fla to also ace out 1 or 2 non-SEC undefeateds.
You think the rest of the country hated that all-SEC title game last year?
How would the college football world respond to TWO 1-loss SEC teams finishing #1 and #2 and going to Miami, with one or two undefeateds getting left out of the title game?
It COULD happen.
The NCAA would have to move the playoff scenario up to 2013, if it does!

If Oregon or ND win out then they deserve to go over any one loss team. I am not looking at this through LSU colored glasses just simply they made every game count. They would even get the nod over a one loss Bama team. Yes I said that !

Oregon, Notre Dame, and Kansas State
Notre Dame won't beat OU and USC.
Kstate won't come within 20 of West Va.
Oregon might win out.

notre dame isn't going undefeated, they will lose in norman, imo. oregon would have to play usc twice, and ksu has to play in morgantown this weekend. LSU has a long way to go, but if "we" go undefeated, i like our chances.

While it's unlikely that 2 teams from outside the conference go undefeated, there isn't a snowballs chance in hell that a 1 loss SEC team get in over an undefeated oregon, ND, Kstate. I would bet my life on that

dude. if we beat alabama, win out an c win the seccg, we s re in..no questions
Posted on 10/16/12 at 10:53 am to IAmReality
I agree with this. Any two undefeated conference team goes in ahead of any one loss-except Alabama.

1 Loss Bama would get in over unbeaten Kstate or Oregon.
As far as I'm concerned Kstate is wasting their time. In order for the Big 12 to be represented in the BCSCG, it HAS to be OU or Longhorn Network. This was made clear last year. KSU will be left out unless they are the only unbeaten team left from a BCS conference.

If it's not us, I hope the SEC gets screwed. Eff all of em!!!

I think a one loss SEC champion goes, especially if that one loss SEC team is LSU, after beating Florida in the SECCG.

well that's never happened before...why would it happen this year?

BC quality wins no longer mean a thing.

Bet your sorry arse that a 1 loss SEC champ finishes #1 in the BCS.

If that one loss is to LSU and LSU wins out and wins the SECCG? How would Bama be ranked above LSU in order to make that a possibility?

I wasn't playing out a scenario with Bama losing to LSU. I was just answering a question regarding which one-loss SEC team would jump over unbeaten teams.
I was just saying a 1Loss Bama gets in before those two teams.
