It's the only play LSU runs.

the problem is neither he nor cam know anything about the spread.

Miles doesn't but he has coached along side of spread coaches. Cam ran a pro style offense with some spread type elements at Indiana.

I think he's at core an NFL/pro-style person but it's encouraging that he adapted his offense around Randle-El. Those Indiana teams had little talent outside of Randle-El, but he tore it up in a bunch of ways.

We can't execute a goaline play so I'm pretty sure we can't run a spread with our offensive coaches.

If LSU installs a true spread offense then I will conduct the fire Les Miles train.

Then see ya! The spread offense is perfect for the talent we have in Louisiana. Louisiana grows WRs like nobody else, yet we are horrific at passing the ball yearly. Don't give me that garbage about JUCO Mett who had two WRs who are both over 90+ catches and 1100+ yards as second year NFL players. Reuben Randle who has over 700 yards and 7 TDs. Stanley Morgan at Nebraska, Kevontae Turpin at TCU, Speedy Noil at TAMU, Jared Cornelius at Arkansas, Tyron Johnson, Travin Dural, and Malachi Dupre at LSU. We should be passing the ball a hell of a lot more than 300 times a year.

Spread offense doesn't mean zero run game. Baylor, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Clemson, Houston, Ohio State, TCU etc all have top 25 rush offenses. Even Texas Tech has the 30th ranked rush offense.

They also don't mean zero defense as Oklahoma, Clemson, Ohio State, and Houston all have top 25 scoring defenses and UNC went up dramatically in defense with new DC Gene Chizik compared to a few years ago. Even TAMU has a better scoring defense than LSU has and has a top 40 total defense and the #4 pass defense in the country.

The key is to commit to those areas. LSU has the talent and coaching on defense to improve, now they just need the coaching on offense to do the same.

Miles needs to keep his damn fingers off of the offense. Cam Cameron needs to go and we need to hire an OC who is good at developing COLLEGE QBs.

Thanks More&Less it makes me ill to think of LSU playing like Oregon. Maybe a touch to spice things up but that's it.

This tells you all you need to know. A low rated recruit (by LSU's standards) who couldn't win the starting job at a bottom feeder power five school is suddenly going to elevate play at LSU.

That tells me that either our QB situation again is as sorry as it looks on the field of play or that Miles and staff have so poorly recruited and developed QB's that someone of Etling's caliber can elevate play.

Damn. Etling wasn't some 1 Star nobody coming out. He was a 4 Star and the 17th rated Passing QB prospect according to 247. If you think LSU wouldn't recruit him out of HS right now, then you aren't very familiar with our QB situation.

Also, you're talking about a freshman who was thrown to the wolves on a very bad team. I don't expect him to come in and set the world on fire, but he has the potential to be a solid QB. We could use that, even if it's just for depth.

we'll see

I just want balance in the sense of attacking the opponents weaknesses.. not in terms of 50/50.. but the ability and confidence to run whatever is most effective vs that given opponent.. not just trying to enforce your will over and over again...

i'd be happy with incorporating more spread given all the receiving talent LSU has.

baylor and oklahoma right now seem to run very good offenses. i'm not sure though as i haven't followed other schools as closely. i do know baylor got down to their 3rd and 4th qb though which finally caught up to them.. but that would most schools.

LSU needs to not always rely solely on enforcing their will or straight up execution.. they do need to be more creative in producing offensive success.

Basically this.

For the millionth fricking time, no one with half a lick of sense is demanding a specific "spread" offense.

That's the mantra of the pumpers and Village Idiots around here--"oh, you want a SPREAD!"

I'm fine with Les's run-first, pro-set offense as long as it has just a LITTLE deception to keep the opposing defense off-balance.

When we say we need to develop a passing attack, that does not necessarily mean convert to a spread offense. It DOES mean use variety like slants and a short-medium passing game--not just those long out patterns.

The Dallas Cowboys in 2014 would be the ideal run-first "conservative" offense.

There's a difference between a "conservative" offense and Les's stone-age predictability.

I just think it's funny that you people see the spread as an end all be all offensive philosophy. And apperently so does Lea Miles.

So he plans on watching the Baylor and Oklahoma bowl games and some Texas Tech film. Technically, he isn't lying I guess.

I like it. Remains to be seen what actually happens, but Les is no idiot. When your WRs are underperforming, you stop throwing the ball their way to limit their mistakes, and when the OL is underperforming, you go away from the power run to limit their mistakes.

When you're getting beat up that badly at the line of scrimmage, you can't rely on your OL beating people back and making room for LF & Co.

I want double slot triple option. Not spread.

Just think:
Qb- harris
Fb- williams
Hb- fournette
Hb- guice

On any given play one of those 4 is running. Would be great
