Mulkey reportedly makes $2.3 million now. LSU would need to offer her a pretty good bump to get her to make the move, and even then Baylor might still match it.

Which would put her making more than Will fricking Wade, in a sport that does produce revenue.

She makes $2.2M per year. I don't see us paying that kind of money on a sport that losses money

The only woman's sports I'd watch would be beach volleyball and it isn't for the competition.

2008, I almost got into a fight with a redneck in Stadium View Grill in Green Bay,WI.
I was minding my business watching the Lady Tiger Basketball team play Tennessee in the Final Four.
Apparently this guy was pissed off at the Brewers game on another TV and started shite with me over my "GEEE-ACCKS" Tigers shirt. It said Geaux Tigers.
He was mad at me for no reason but being an outsider in his favorite bar.
I had to think quickly and got out of this jam by telling him I saw Rickie Weeks play in college for SU vs LSU. And I bought him a shot. It worked. Whew.

TLDR You're frickin stupid and wrong.

Women's basketball can be a close to revenue neutral sport if it's winning and getting into the NCAA every year and making semi-deep runs.

People never seem to remember than increases in winning usually leads to increases in expenses along with increases in revenue. The profit numbers really don’t change all that much. UConn proves that.

WBB just is not a profitable sport in the current model of college athletics. LSU is already a large brand from other sports, the exposure from WBB being successful wouldn’t be nearly as valuable as it is for UConn. There is no justifiable financial reason for LSU to spend millions of dollars on a wbb coach.

I was responding to someone saying she makes $2.3M and would need a substantial bump which would probably put her over $2.5M, you think?

Unless she really does want to move on or back.

I doubt Getting Mulkey is feasible.

But worth asking.

Even during its peak run in the early-mid 2000s wbb still lost money every year. Like just about every other wbb program.
the big chunk of revenue nowadays comes from TV money. And there's very little of that for WBB.

Call it one and change then. Still a no brainier. These semantics posts are just lovely though.

It’s not though. Youre going from less than 1 with the previous coach, which was already way too much, to probably close to 3 with the new coach. That’s 2, and that’s before the increased bonuses incentives she’s going to want, higher salaries for assistants and support staff, facilities upgrades, etc. It’s easily a several million dollar increase.

LSU fans support winning teams. WBB during their Final Four runs were selling out the PMAC. Gymnastics is still doing that.

Football: $3.3m revenue, $16.6m expenses
MBB: $6m revenue, $9.9m expenses
WBB: $4.5m revenue, $8 million expenses
Other: $2.8 mil revenue, $25.8 mil expenses

So by looking at that they should shite can the Football program because it's the biggest single revenue loser.

Wrong. They averaged 7,000 attendance during that run. The only game close to selling out was Tennessee and even then they ran every promotion to Pack the PMAC.

That is true, but if they are going to show a WBB on TV to get that Revenue, you are going to put a team that is winning on TV. No one will watch two crappy WBB teams play. But you will get some people watching a great team play. A great WBB game like LSU vs Tenn in the final four runs most likely had higher tv ratings than anything the WNBA sees. I know that doesn't say much, but if you are going to get tv money, you want as high as you can get. Winning puts you on tv more.
