I recall John Ferguson. Comparing Ferguson and Hawthorne is like comparing Marino and Elway. They're both great, just two different styles. Tune in to Sirius on a Saturday afternoon, and listen to some of the other college team announcers around the country. Makes you get down on your knees and thank God his very self that we have Jim Hawthorne!

Amen!!

Like his call or not, but Jim bleeds for LSU and he has never been anything but a classy guy and great supporter of all things LSU.

Even though I'm one of the few who actually like Jim Hawthorne, I still think of Ferguson as the voice of the Tigers.

Ferguson had an incredible broadcast voice

just listen to the great call of the bert jones to brad davis pass-- that is vintage - - Hawthorne is ok and has had a great history-but he just can't deliver on that style--- jones back to throw he has davis-- caught on the last play of the game--brad davis catches a bert jones pass in the corner of the endzone

Jim's been behind the mike since 1983. Old timers like myself remember John Ferguson.

John Ferguson and Walter Hill. Before JF the voice of the Tigers was JC Politz.

This, I will never do. Hawthorne is a nega-tiger, until something positive happens.
