I'd figure Mills as more of a phalanges or metacarpal type fracture guy.

Jefferson will be more than capable. Agree his coverage skills not quite what Mills' are but he'll do fine. Does Battle step into the nickel role now?

I imagine Dwayne Thomas will be the nickel, provided he doesn't beat out Paris for the starter spot opposite White.

Jefferson is capable. But losing that experience sucks

No battle will stay at safety. Nickel will be played by Dwayne Thomas Tolliver or donte Jackson.

We don't have to do a complete reshuffle of the secondary. Mills will be back after three or four games.

Minimal drop off between mills and Jefferson. Why freak out?

if at all. Mainly hurts depth. We had 3 safeties that were as good as any in the country and now we have two. Doesn't hurt the quality of our starting defense but does change the nature of it to some degree, as Jefferson is more physical while MIlls was possibly better in coverage.

I am. He was the senior leader on the defense. The D rotated on him because he was so familiar with it. He kept everybody in their place on the field.

This hurts from an experience stand point, but we are fricking stacked at safety and DB in general.

Rickey is going to ball out and get great experience going into the back end of the year.

You're right that it's an opportunity for Jefferson to get some great experience before he takes over next year.

Like others said, we have talented depth in the secondary, but Mills is one of the leaders on the team. Not having him on the field could be big if Beckwith, Adams, etc. can't help coach the defense on the field.

The reason some RB'ers sound so stupid when you are thin at a position and they say:

"If we have to utilize a third string name position, then we are in trouble, anyway."

Always recruit for depth and always have them ready. Miles gets credit for having an able body to replace him at DBU.

Injuries are a part of the game. Just a matter of when and who, not IF.

There's ample evidence that the overwhelming majority of the Rant are non-athletic and non-competitive individuals that have never actually played any sports because they all seem so surprised and shocked when somebody gets hurt.

If the proper plan is in place and the recruiting is at the level of what its supposed to be, you just move somebody in and there should be little drop off.

How long has Les Miles been here now? At this point 10 years in, there shouldn't be any depth problems and we're certainly not taking out the towel for the Head Coach because of injuries.

Depending on "Lady Luck" to keep the team injury free is not valid reasoning. Who's next?.........
