re: Baton Rouge Regional Preview: UNC-Wilmington, Tulane, & Lehigh - catholictigerfan
On Friday afternoon in Alex Box Stadium, LSU will face off against Nick Macaione. The senior southpaw has developed into the leader of this club and the go-to guy for coach Sean Leary. Macaione threw a 10-inning complete game in the Patriot League championship to advance the Mountain Hawks to...

anyone know how good the ace for Lehigh is? His stats aren't bad but considering he is in the patriot league we will probably hit him well. ...

re: Tulane using their midweek starting pitcher against UNCW - catholictigerfan
UNCW has a good offense, they will lose this game I think. note: this guy is their second best ERA among guys who have started 5+ games. We will likely see COREY MERRILL, if they win. ...

re: Alden Cartwright to start vs Lehigh - catholictigerfan
I know but our typical midweek approach is start gets two innings and everyone else gets 1 inning. I could see CPM do that again, it has worked well for us before even in SEC play. ...

re: Alden Cartwright to start vs Lehigh - catholictigerfan
you don't understand why I said Johnny whole staff is that CPM will likely throw Cartwright 2 or 3 innings than maybe one guy 2 innings and everyone else 1 inning. He will try to manage the bullpen so that everyone maybe except Cartwright can pitch again the next day. ...

re: This years team vs 09 baseball team - catholictigerfan
We are comparing the 2009 team to this team. Nola's stats are what they were for 2009.
yeah I noticed that afterwards. you are correct. Fielding 15>09 Batting 15> 09 not by much Pitching 09>15 I pick 09 because of pitching especially the fact that we had a closer to c...

re: This years team vs 09 baseball team - catholictigerfan
Nola was a freshman put into the lineup late in the season. Bregman a Junior with 3 seasons under his belt. to compare Nola had a .980 fielding percentage his senior year, better than Bregman his junior year. Plus stats are stats, and don't always give a fair comparison. Also to add anot...

re: This years team vs 09 baseball team - catholictigerfan
never said it was. Which is why in my first reply I said currently it's 09 but 15 has a chance to make a case for itself if it wins the title.
but you are saying currently, which still isn't fair. What ever though, I've made my point. To rephrase you question from earlier...

re: This years team vs 09 baseball team - catholictigerfan
False. LSU's 2011 and 2005 football teams were both demonstrably better than LSU's 2007 football team. Don't let outcomes which are based on some modicum of luck (and relative strength of opponents, etc.) skew an argument about quality which is independent of results.
yep and I s...

re: This years team vs 09 baseball team - catholictigerfan
I agree with you, but the question was which team is better? The only correct response at this point is to pick the team that won the championship. A better question would have been: "Going into regionals, which team would you prefer 09 or 15?" Only problem with that is everyone knows the end...

re: This years team vs 09 baseball team - catholictigerfan
Sometimes people forget how razor-thin the margins of victory/defeat can be. Like I said, 09 team was dominant all year, but if not for that clutch hit in extras by Mahtook, that team would have gotten swept out of the final series. We were not beating Jungmann the way he was pitching. In the...
