re: Is Jerrard Randall #2?

pretty much. I think we'd have been better off leaving him solely to predetermined runs or run/pass options if we were gonna use his legs.
Agree with Atl Tiger. I think Miles continually trying to tell the fanbase that JJ was a dual threat has poisoned many to the idea of a dual threat qb. JJ was never a dual threat qb more of a dropback passer (tho very inaccurate) who could run some if he was pressured. Decision making on the fly like what needs to be done on the option was never his strong suit.
Hopefully Randal will be much more like Perrilloux (on the field not off) than JJ.

Randall probably won't sniff the field

I think Randall is the equivalant of a camp arm at this point, that's why were bringing in 2 more Qb's. Being able to throw it 70 yards at 100mph doesn't matter if you can't hit water in the ocean. Kid is on the team so I support him but I really want to support his ability to chart plays and send signals in to the other guy... Maybe that makes me sound like an arse but it's still to soon from JJ for me to say I want to see him play. Mett still has only a handful of meaningful plays in games so if were up I wouldn't mind seeing them work on his game so when were not up big know how to throw the ball and still be balanced.quote:
Get ur post count up over a 100 before we actually take your opinion into consideration.
I absolutely can't stand when people do this........... Who the frick are you to tell someone that their opinion is less valuable due to their post count? When the frick has 100 posts been recognized on TD as a benchmark for posting Opinions?

I want all you posters who hate dual threat guys to go see which qbs in the SEC have reached legendary status the last 5-7 years. It's not pocket passers. This isnt the nfl. A dual threat guy is great in college. It makes the defense play 11 v11 instead of having an extra guy.

florida won a national championship with 2 qb's.. one was tim tebow coming in as a change of pace..

That's when Les'll get rivers some work
Posted on 7/10/12 at 10:45 am to HoustonGumbeauxGuy
Can he get along with others and make his linemen protect him?

Also I guess having over 1500+ posts has taught him such invaluable knowledge as "it was a naked bootleg, Ur mother could have run that"
Should change his name to Vince Lombardi.

Rivers is most likely #2, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Randall come in for Mett as a change of pace. Sadly this might involve short-side options...
I agree with this and this is why the QB depth is relatively meaningless. I think Rivers gets mop up duty (though Randall might get some of these reps as well) against Idaho, Towson and Ole Miss.
Randall will likely get 4 to 6 snaps every game, either in short yardage situations (near the goalline), and change of pace/option/trickeration plays. He will get the plays that Perrilloux used to get in 2007. The better these work, the more chances he will get.

Corndog, it doesn't matter if you have a low post count or a new account. Only a retard cares what someone's post count is. Bill Parcell could sign up, post his opinion, and some idiot on here would tell him his opinion isn't highly regarded because of his post count.
I agree with one thing, though, that guy should blow you.

I'm not going to berate all future dual threat QBs because of JJ.
JJ would have to have been able to pass in order to be a dual threat... He had the running down though

So our QB's = Brady, Rogers, Brees. Got it

I think JJ was a decent runner on a called run or running away from pressure on a pass play but was completely lost trying to run the option.

This isn't directed to you Rudy, just in general...
I recall Miles saying that the LSU offense is nothing like what Randall ran in HS and he was struggling a bit to adjust to it. Rivers, on the other hand, was grasping it. Advantage of having a QB for a brother perhaps.
But anybody who watches both can see that, talent-wise, Randall stacks up. If the offense starts to click with him, it could get interesting.
Until then, Rivers is solidly the No. 2 and I would think if anybody would get wildcat snaps, it would be Shepard (hey, he might even throw a pass this year).

First off the reference to the short side option was mainly tongue in cheek.
Second for all those opposed to a change of pace, this isn't the pros where your starting QB will be on your team for the foreseeable future. It isn't the pros where a good QB cost so much money that you can only have one good QB on your team (...well, unless you are Auburn).
Mett will only be on this team for 1 or 2 more years and there's always the risk of injuries. In the pros if you lose your starting QB to injury your season is likely over. But this isn't necessarily the case in college. You have to develop your back-ups, and sooner is better than later. If you've got a guy with a different skill set and can run some plays that the defense hasn't had time to prepare for, there's no reason not to get him some playing time.
You wouldn't have a problem bringing a WR with an arm off the bench to run WR reverse option pass. It shouldn't be such a stretch to do something similar with QBs.

The Patriots did it with Doug Flutie...just saying.
You can't really compare CFB to the NFL. CFB is all about exploring new ideas and experimenting because you only have the players for a certain amount of time before it's time to bring in new ones. Whoever plays #2 I hope they lead us to victory if need be. Just nice to have guys who capable and don't have to play right away.
