I wouldn't mind seeing him get to play a few plays here and there to get a feel for the game in case Mett goes down.

He's talented.

Well if the coaches fell like he should be behind Rivers why would the fan base want the 3rd best player at a position on the field?

I don't understand some people's way of thinking.. Why don't we just make sure the 3rd teamers get a few plays here and there for a change of pace. The sad part is if he gets into a game and does ANYTHING that reminds the fans of JJ they're going to crusify the kid and boo him in the stadium. That should help him.

He's 3rd string, but I'd bet he plays more than rivers.

Well he shouldn't, you have to earn your position on any team and if Rivers has earned the #2 spot then he should play before and more than Randall.

God forbid Mett goes down in the 2nd game of the year, who should come in the #2 guy or the #3 guy?

What I'm saying is, he's most likely a situational player to come in every so often to run a pass/run option play.

Rivers is the backup, but Randall is the "change of pace"

Well as I posted before, the starter at QB and sr WRon the team don't think he's ready and don't want to see it happen.

I'll take the word from the guys who see him everyday.

Not ready to run 3 or 4 plays? I find that hard to believe. But ok.

I'm just telling you what I was told, the kid is a RSFR and stepping in front of 93k+ fans on a Saturday night in death valley is different then playing in front 4k on a Friday.

I'm asking because I really want to know, why do fans WANT this kid to go run 3 or 4 plays a game so that we can have designed runs that every coach in the SEC will pick up on?

And I have had conversations with Frank, TM, JHill, and big Turner. They are not taking the option part out of the offense man. Face it. As one poster stated 5 or 6 plays won't hurt a thing, also why don't you come out and say what you really want to say about him bc it very obvious you are going hard in on him, like it's something personal.

I hope yall understand that what I'm saying is not a shot at Randall, he's probably a great kid, great athlete, and could find a way to contribute one day at LSU but I can tell you it's not at QB this year. Having a big arm can make you a thrower but it's doesn't always make you a passer... ask JJ about that.

I've already posted what I think about the kid... If you are trying to say it's a black white thing with me you're being foolish... I pulled just as hard Jamarcus as I have any other player that I've ever played with or pulled for but it was because he was a productive player while was here. Go play the race card somewhere else dude. Like I want every other black kid that plays a different position on the team to do well, just not him.. Your intelligence speaks volumes about you.

The 3rd string guy this yr will probably play less than the 3rd string guy did last yr. imo

Amusing how some seem to think LSU players get to decide when to go into the game and what plays to run.

Almost as amusing as us fans feeling we know the best play to run, when to run it, and who should run it rather than those who watch the team 24/7 and who have directed LSU football to the most awsome level LSU football has ever obtained.

Lonnie I'm not saying he has a choice of when to go in or not, what to run or not, and what the other coaches think... What I'm saying is if this kid gets put into a situation that he doesn't perform in.. Just say they put him in for the "change of pace" everyone wants and he runs a short side option. Now say it's a fumble, bad pitch, or play loses 5 yards.. What do you think this fanbase is going to do in the stands? I'm not saying that I would boo the kid but I assure you 1000's of people will and they can say they're booing the coaches but the players hear it a lot more than the coaches do.

as long as rivers not jarrett lee and randalls not jefferson i could care less who 2nd string. let the best player play. I've never seen us this strong at qb tho.

Honestly 5 or 6 plays could be the difference in a win and a loss. I've been a big Randall supporter on this site. I've said many times I think he's the next QB when it's all said and done once Mett leaves. That being said, if LSU wants to run the option there are better players. Use Shep, Ware, Magee, or Turner. Shep averaged somewhere around 7.5 YPC in that role as a freshman. Magee and Turner lead their teams to the Dome twice running the option. It's a better change of pace IMO if Mett stays in the game than if you completely take him out. It gives the defense less time to adjust as opposed to him coming out and Randall coming into the game.

That's tight. You getting a little heated over there Lil man? I never said it was a race thing, you brought that up. I said it sounds personal. Maybe it's bc you feel like the QB is the face of the program and he shouldn't be sporting those neck tats. IDK. And by the way we talking about practice son practice! We all know how JJ looked in practice. The kid had a solid outing in the spring game. Give him a chance to get his feet wet. You need to pump the kid up instead of tearing him down bc he might really be one play away from being on that field.

What was the QB situation on the best high school football team you've ever seen?

I'm fine with Randall not playing a down all season, but if the coaches think a play here or there will give us an advantage, I'm fine with that too. Not putting him in for entire drives, but for specific plays. Again, i don't care if they do, but I'm not going to crucify the staff before 1) they've even done it or 2) we haven't seen if it will be successful or not.
