really. i mean does any team with a solid qb need this mythical "change of pace" to run a good offense? because every good offense I've EVER seen in the nfl and ncaa has one qb

no shite.

We have 62 5star running backs, a qb with a brain and a cannon and a solid offensive line.

This change of pace shite irks me to no end.
I think most prob bc it has RP/JJ roots, but nonetheless... IMO it fricking sucks.

BLAH BLAH BLAH. Legit?

Talked to J. Hill on this one and he said that Randall will get some PT as the change it up QB. So we know that means the option is still in the playbook.

No point putting him at risk of injury.
I kinda wonder if this was on CLM's mind in '11 when you're skulldragging all but one opponent anyhow.

Sadly this might involve short-side options...

was watching florida vs lsu 2007. Didn't mind the short side option with ryan p and k.w., it worked pretty well.

i think people get stuck on one thing. one specific play, and think that is the reason the entire offense is struggling. However, it has more to do with player execution than the play itself.

i'm sure people didn't mind the short side option when michael ford went arount the left end against alabama (first game) for what appeared to be a t.d. then called out at the 4 for stepping out of bounds. ultimately, lsu won that game because of the option.

lsu's offensive woe's has had very little to do with the play called. It has more to do with lack of quality play from the most important position on offense.

I guarantee Randall runs it similar to the way Perriloux ran back in 07. If he does run it we will be ok with it.

I think Randall is the equivalant of a camp arm at this point, that's why were bringing in 2 more Qb's. Being able to throw it 70 yards at 100mph doesn't matter if you can't hit water in the ocean.

Kid is on the team so I support him but I really want to support his ability to chart plays and send signals in to the other guy... Maybe that makes me sound like an arse but it's still to soon from JJ for me to say I want to see him play. Mett still has only a handful of meaningful plays in games so if were up I wouldn't mind seeing them work on his game so when were not up big know how to throw the ball and still be balanced.

Randall being able to use his legs would give LSU a much better shot at winning the BCSNCG if we're in it next season....Mett & Rivers would be too one dimensional and would need to sit the entire game no matter what IMO.

pretty much. I think we'd have been better off leaving him solely to predetermined runs or run/pass options if we were gonna use his legs.

as for Randall, he looked good throwing and running on his HS highlights. looked more like a natural QB than I thought he would, pretty smooth on play action stuff from under center. interested to see how it translates.

I don't care if Randall runs the option like Tommy Frazier. I love the option and have no problem with LSU running it. I have no problem with LSU having a dual threat QB. I have no problem with Randall being LSU's QB. I have a huge problem withe Les's philosophy of needing a change of pace QB. If you have 2 quarterbacks, you don't have one.

Naked boot or not, the guy showed he's got wheels.

You don't have to be a running QB to be effective in the running game. You have to take what the D gives you.

For example, see Jamarcus Russell in the 06 Sugar Bowl vs. ND.
