I watched him damn get an ankle broke in his only start.

But i believe he will be above average and i believe CLM will play both QBs during the season. CLM has never been one to give the backup QB playing time in games where they should get it. But i doubt that happens this year and he'll make sure AJ gets plenty of snaps.

I believe average is a given....the espn pundits would not be touting the rise of the Tigers into a potential national spotlight, if Brandon Harris was not delivering some major improvement in summer camp.... But I believe the kid has the skills and talent to be more than average.....this is why the pundits are suddenly making LSU the toast of the pre-season or at least one of the 4 or 5 everyone is promoting. Kind of disgusting when you think about it.... guys on these boards like the rant and 247 keep a near constant ear to the ground and are aware of the improvement or lack thereof...whereas these people are paid to give there opinions, howbeit nearly always being late to the party....that's why it's hard respecting the talking heads and their presumption that they are telling us anything and getting paid for it.

If we expect to compete for the NC this year we are going to need much more than just average out of him. NO reason we shouldn't be competing for that this year.

I think people are both tempering their expectations and expressing optimism. They WANT Harris to be great. But no one is expecting that this year.
I am. You won't see it against McNeese. That will mostly be the Buga Pain Train, but you'll see it eventually.

Analysts wouldn't be picking LSU to go to the ship if they didn't think the QB position would be solid. I don't necessarily expect Heisman numbers, but the kid will shine.

The overwhelming opinion is that if BH can just be average that LSU would have a really good season. Why are we not expecting him to be really good?

your first sentence doesnt correlate with the second...they are saying If he can just be average qb that lsu will be great...none of that says we are expecting him to be anything ...we expect every qb to be great at QB but with the talent we have on this team...BH can be average and we will have a really good season.

I was a little worried that BH would think he had to come out and be all world and zip passes in triple coverage, but when I saw his quote in the other thread, I have to admit, I'm pretty stoked and optimistic!

("I don't have to make plays. I've got a great running back who is an All-American. We've got All-American wide receivers, great tight ends and a great offensive line.” )

200 yds a game would be EXCELLENT...250 is not going to happen, this year.

I think he means 250 total, passing and rushing, which is very doable.

I think there's something behind the recent picks by the highest profile CF analysts with LSU in the playoff. They know something because they wouldn't just throw that out there.

They're national sportswriters/sportscasters/TV personalities. It's almost a certainty that they know less than you do, and yes, they absolutely would just throw that (or anything else that pops into their heads) out there.

That said, I agree that there's no reason Harris can't be a great quarterback and no reason for us not to hope he will be.

I agree that averaging 250 yards a game is not realistic. But I would think we would see some improvement over last season's passing game, with OK or acceptable play overall early in the season, but with clear improvement by the end of the season. Is that too much to expect?

Well yeah. It's easier to be qb for an offense that call the same play 50% of the game.

Realistic? If BHarris averaged 250 passing yards a game he would have a top 3 passing season in lsu history.

BH will never, ever be average. This guy will be one of the best in school history. I said the same thing last year and had to temporarily eat crow. This is a new year. Book it, Dano.

Holy shite. You do realize that 250 total yards per game would be the 2nd best offensive season in lsu history, right? So no its not doable unless BHARRIS has abetter season than all but 2 lsu qbs ,ever.

Here's my opinion. We have won the NC before with a lesser talent. Both Mauck and Flynn were average quarterback with really good football IQ's. BH is way more talented than both of those guys were in my ooinion. So if he study and learns like they did then he has the potential to be elite. This year could be a very special year if he puts it all together. And from what little we've heard it seems that he has.
