The overwhelming opinion is that if BH can just be average that LSU would have a really good season. Why are we not expecting him to be really good? I mean exceptionally good. This guy has the potential to be elite. There is a reason why Ohio State and Auburn wanted him, and BAD.

I think there's something behind the recent picks by the highest profile CF analysts with LSU in the playoff. They know something because they wouldn't just throw that out there.

I think this dude is going to go off. Last year shouldn't weigh one bit into the expectations because VERY few True Freshman have good seasons in the SEC IF they even see the field. He's got elite arm strength and is quick. If he hits, look out.

He does have great potential, but you expect that this year?

I think people are both tempering their expectations and expressing optimism. They WANT Harris to be great. But no one is expecting that this year.

And all we NEED is for him to be average for this team to be successful.

I hope you are correct. I think he can be great. That said, pump the brakes a little...I remember when people were talking about Jordan Jefferson winning the Heisman after one game against Georgia Tech. I also remember many thinking Jennings was going to be a stud after one series against Arkansas.

We don't know what we don't know...

Let's just tamp down our expectations, a bit, this year.

All of a sudden, we went from an 8 or 9 win team to SEC championship contenders in a matter of a week.

Pump the brakes.

I will say that I'd take average out of him. Just got the feeling that something is clicking now and he's going to have a really good season. Which puts LSU in SEC title and playoff

I think average is the wrong word. Not bad is more fitting IMO.

LSU was almost a 12 win team last year. It's certainly possible.

What if BH's hail mary was a touchdown?
What if Vadal wasn't penalized at the goal line?
What if Alabama didn't come back and they play with a pulse @ Arkansas?
What if Chavis actually put effort into the game plan vs Notre Dame?

I think a lot of the way LSU has run its offense during Championship years has lead to this belief. During these title runs, the offense has typically had great balance. This means that LSU has been successful with the short and intermediate passing plays, and can then grind away with a great running game. This game plan works well if you can maintain a lead, and doesn't ask a lot of the QB. It is most effective when you have a solid QB, but it won't work well without good defense. Therefore because overall the Tigers have a solid team, it seems plausible that LSU just needs a QB to execute this game plan.

That's my point. I am optimistic he can be VERY good, but it is unrealistic to expect it this year.

I agree.
We're just leveraging our enthusiasm against past results. If Auburn was starting Brandon Harris and we had Jeremy Johnson the BH hype would be outta this world and Jeremy Johnson would be projected as the 8th best QB in the SEC.
I posted it before, but I think this is the year we become comfortable with throwing the ball (WELL) again.

It's all about the Front 7. Losing Kwon (and the three DT's who left) makes us a little thin. D still has a chance to be really good with a little luck i.e. no major injuries. Plus, having a new DC is always an unknown.

So, all we need is for him to be more productive than JaMarcus?

Then your expectations are too high. Do people just think that 2nd year players, sophomores, 1st year starters are just going to come in and dominate like an all conference Jr or Sr?

I expect him to be ok to good, not great or all conference.

You guys need to temper your expectations, otherwise all its going to do is piss you off and you'll be blaming Miles for everything if he isn't All American.

That's on you for expecting WAY too much too early. You want a Ferrari when all you can afford right now is a mustang.

These two statements don't cover the same topic. You can have high expectations while understanding that he doesn't need to be exceptional for LSU to do great things this year.
